I know he’s said some dumb things, but for the most part, the guy seems pretty game for just about anything, and has also been extremely open in talking about just about anything people wanna ask him about re:his movies.

I haven't seen any of those movies except Guardians of the Galaxy and I showed bootlegs of the Thanos movies to my students. Every five minutes I kept asking where Batman was or if Thanos was from Space Jam until the students were ready to rise up.

 

doing a slight spin on the criterion challenge with the friend group. one of the categories is scorsese films. torn between one i like a lot and want to show them (king of comedy) and one i haven’t seen and want to (after hours)

any suggestions?

 

I have noticed the increasing puritanism in mainstream movies for a while. It seems like they mistook a call for the end of objectification and sleazy voyeurism for a call to remove one of the most important parts of the human experience.

 

That take has been recycled for months now, just like most things that rile up that side of Twitter. It’s hard to find who originally said it and if it was a genuine opinion

 

After Hours is fine but doesn’t hold a candle to King of Comedy

 

They seem pretty genuine.

 

King of Comedy is the better movie, but if you've never seen After Hours, you should 100% watch it.

 

someone else used that category to pick casino, which is a good movie, but made me mad bc everyone in the group has already seen it. waste of a category

Was there ever like a movie of the week discussion thread? Similar to the classic album threads in the music forum

 

People have tried stuff like that but it never goes anywhere.

 

Watching Independence Day (1996) and it's still fun as hell

 

I had a similar experience in 2013 with Before Midnight and some blockbuster blaring in the other theater. It was so bad I had to complain to the management.

 

im sure the manager making 15 an hour really took that to heart

 

I doubt it, but a free future ticket is worth it.

I regret to inform this thread that I saw Ted in theaters and the sound was off so they gave us free tickets to another movie and I used it to see Men in Black 3
