I’ve seen plenty of these where people reacted to the movie they went to see, but I didn’t know they apparently did this with trailer reactions too?

I think people paid money to see some movie but were just going for the Phantom Menace trailer.

it was a different time pre-youtube

i remember going on imdb boards just to read descriptions of the trailers since i probably wouldn’t be able to see them myself for a few weeks

Trailers were a great part of the movie experience as a kid. As an adult, the trailers are very underwhelming.

  5. Yeah, for sure. I think it’s different now because we are on message boards or see articles online announcing new movies well before a trailer is even out. So by the time time the trailer is out, we’re only judging it to make sure it looks as good as we hoped.

When we were kids, sometimes the trailer was the first time we heard anything about a particular movie. So it was instant excitement and curiosity.

What really kills be is how many there can be. Like tacking on an extra 20 mins or more to the run time is ridiculous. Should be a max 3 trailers.

I still love seeing trailers but around here they had gotten up to 25 minutes and that’s just way too much. I have no self-control, my snacks are gone before the movie starts.

For me the bigger problem is that the trailers are never that interesting. I don't know how trailer selection works, but they end up showing a lot of mainstream generic trailers to audiences for independent/arthouse films.

what i hate most is the teaser for the trailer that comes out the day before

what good is that possibly doing

I hate that it’s always the same 5 trailers for months. I’d go to the theater 4 or so times a month and would have to see the same exact trailers every time.

  11. I swear I saw that new Terminator movie's trailer like 30 times in the theater. Made me never want to actually see the movie because I would get so annoyed, haha.

I avoid trailers for the most part. If it's a film I'm already likely to see, I want to go in as blind as possible.

Trailers also used to suck total ass. Like people make fun of how big trailers today will hit all the same exact dramatic beats, but that’s because it works

This is why I always just hotbox the car during the trailers and walk in right as the kid is throwing his popcorn into the air in the AMC ad.

And why do so many trailers on YouTube seem to have like 5-10 second clips that are trailers for the trailer? Why are they giving a preview of the 2-minute preview I’m already watching?

the first time this happened I was so confused and thought the video was glitching. So stupid.

My older cousin took us to see Terminator 3 and he got really mad for the trailer for Kill Bill Volume One. He said it was the dumbest thing he had ever seen.

I'm pretty sure Terminator 3 was my first R-rated movie in theaters and I was also taken by my older cousin.

  19. I've only ever seen Terminator 2. Because that was the only one that was ever on TV, and I feel like it was ALWAYS on when I was younger.

I remember thinking the first teaser for Cloverfield was revolutionary, now I realize it’s JJ Abrams whole schtick to cloud things in mystery because it’s the only interesting thing about his work

(I know Matt Reeves directed cloverfield, no disrespect to him)

i used to be obsessed with trailers. the more trailers before the movie the better. Hey even in like 2000-2015, with the internet really really existing, i'd still get mostly excited about the trailers i saw IN the theater.

i dont understand the theme of this tweet? People are commenting on the accents these people are using? They all sound pretty normal to me. They all look like 1989 that's for sure, but other than that i'm confused

They definitely have different cadences compared to most people today.
