yeah Black Bear was awesome. Aubrey Plaza was fantastic.

 

Black Bear is one of the few I have left to get through. Probably tomorrow

 

never heard of it, but always interested in Aubrey Plaza films

 

It’s really good and feels fresh.

 

So I kinda just took the leap and watched the movie about... uh, 2 minute after my post, not knowing anything about it? haha. Wild movie, pretty cool. Not sure I entirely bought into the concept as a whole, but I did enjoy it

 

I know it doesn’t sound right but this actually belongs in the video game thread

Pretty sure they’re filming Jackass 4 right now. They started right before the pandemic and then took a break and were supposed to start again sometime this year.

I haven’t but have been very curious and saw it just popped up online, might check it this week! Totally unfamiliar with Abel Ferrara but have been meaning to fix that for a while

 

Aubrey Plaza is so good in this damn

 

King of New York and Bad Lieutenant are the only Ferrara films I've seen. I liked both, but it's been probably 15 years since I've seen either. This one looks like a trip though and I'm excited to watch it.

 

The pandemic is obviously a big part of it, but is this one of the worst years for movies in a long time? We were spoiled in 2019.

 

2019 was stronger than the average year but yeah aside from First Cow nothing stands out the way the best films of 2019 did for me. Even with the pandemic, I'm not sure about a lot of the stuff that got pushed. Sofia Coppola and David Fincher didn't hit their previous highs. Some good independent stuff, Never Rarely Sometimes Always and Bloody Nose Empty Pockets were good. I liked Tigertail. Da 5 Bloods was notable and I'm glad to have seen it.

 

I enjoyed black bear and I’ve heard sound of metal is good.
