Just started rewatching Freaks and Geeks for the first time in years with my family, who have never seen it. We got through the first three episodes tonight and it absolutely holds up

 

To make things even weirder, that Rachel Brosnahan Quibi thing is written and directed by Sam Raimi lol.

 

That Capone movie might have the worst make-up I've seen.

 

while i don't enjoy this film as much as did a decade ago, this was still pretty interesting to go through despite being a bit puffy. not sure how i feel about a couple items in it, however

 

still say kick-ass is the worst film from that director

 

Aren't the Kingsman films supposed to be really bad?

 

The first one felt fresh and was a good time. The second one is entirely forgettable.

 

honestly think the first one's one of the better cbm's of the past decade, sequel despite its issues is better than its reputation suggests

I have never seen it. I remember Reverse Shot talking about how awful the first one was, though.

The first Kingsman is very fun and mindless. It works. The second one hits pretty much all the typical sequel blunders; it takes what worked the first time around and just tries to do it exactly the same but this time bigger and just feels kind, idk, forced?

 

Just watched Yesterday and it was exactly what I needed at the moment.

Changing audience tastes will never be an exact science, but this stuff seems to happen a lot. The big problem is that these people are not really big movie fans, so they don't really know what people want to see. They chase trends but by the time those trends have developed fatigue is setting in.

 

Now that I’ve finished with Bond, I’m kinda enjoying these themed marathons. Inspired by an episode of the Big Picture podcast, I’m now gonna be burning through a whole lot of erotic thrillers! Ten of the films are the ones discussed on the show (well worth a listen!) and ten are my own choices. Any thoughts on the choices?

i prefer the first one but that scene among other is tops

 

I was recommended No Way Out the other day. May have to give that a shot. I've also been meaning to rewatch Eyes Wide Shut for the last 20 years so I'll add that to the short list too.
