I've only ever listened to one episode of the rewatchables and it was just "hey remember when.." I've never listened to any other ringer podcasts

Rewatchables is alright, it can be really good when it's got one of at least Fennessey/Dobbins, but sometimes the place they come from when approaching movies is one that doesn't really care about movies and more enjoys looking at and thinking about famous people. Also Russillo appeared on an episode about Wolf of Wall Street and dragged the quality down to unforgivable depths, which is a big part of what sparked my disdain.

The Ringer podcasts are better for sports than cinema, the Big Picture is solid though.

I think I've legit only watched like 4/5 the shows represented on that list

I pretty much cut out most of the Ringer sports podcasts except for listening to Bill's. The others I listen to are Binge Mode (depending on the topic), The Watch, and The Big Picture. I probably need to go through my subs and make more cuts again. People keep releasing more episodes during the quarantine (or just longer ones) and I can't keep up since I edit podcasts for work.

Does anyone else cycle through what type of podcasts they listen to? I used to listen to a ton of tech ones (a lot from Relay.fm) and now I listen to The Talk Show and that's it. I think I have a habit of exhausting myself on certain topics and then just dropping a bunch in favor of different ones.

It might just be because I'm used to Simmons from listening to his podcasts for over ten years but Russillo bugs me more. I saw that there was a Rewatchables that was just the two of them, and listening to the two of them talk about movies legitimately could be my hell.

I enjoy The Ringer but definitely ignore everything that involves Bill and Russillo.

As far as podcasts go, I’ve really enjoyed The Big Picture the last few months, Fennessey is a great interviewer. Also love The Watch and Binge Mode. The only sport podcasts I listen to is Heat Check/Group Chat. I tried to listen to The Mismatch the other day and they were literally talking about American Idol for like the first 15 minutes so I turned it off lol.

I know Killing Eve is supposed to be great but seeing Villanelle as a #1 seed seems like the weirdest part of that bracket

I didn't look at the bracket but Dennis Reynolds is the best TV character of the century

A lot of the Ringer staff loves that show (as do I).

it’s a great show and she’s the best part but it’s still absurd seeding haha

That's probably the movie I've seen the most. My dad would always watch it when it was on TV.

I was always confused why Shawshank is so beloved when it's an all around average, inoffensive movie. My theory is that a lot of guys see it as one of a handful of films where they are allowed to cry

I’ve never seen it. Even when I was getting into film and watching all the IMDb top 250 or whatever I never got around to it.

I think it being on TV constantly is also a big reason.

I think a big part is it flopping and then becoming huge in home video

I get why it’s very popular/well known but I feel like, at least in my experience, a lot of people who aren’t otherwise that into movies treat it like the holy grail of dramas, like a critical masterpiece in a different league from other popular movies lol
