It’s the emo/drama equivalent to Donnie Darko, another movie that’s mind blowing to 17 year olds

I will stand not only for Donnie Darko but Richard Kelly as a whole. Come at me. Southland tales rules.

Southland Tales is without a doubt one of the bonkers movies I've ever seen.

I loved Donnie Darko when I was a teenager, then I hated it when I was a disaffected twenty something, and now I kinda love it again.

Comparing Donnie Darko to Garden State is crazy. DD is up its own ass but it is still pretty interesting. Garden State is like loving a scene band when you’re a teen but then when you get older you get second hand embarrassment from realizing grown adults made those songs

In a regular world, Garden State would have been the student film that you hope never gets out, but then it was successful so Braff thought he knew what he was doing.

Donnie Darko is also bad. The cheerleader scene is nauseating.

I loved Garden State when I watched it at 16, but don't want to revisit it and be let down. Honestly don't remember what it was even about

And yes, Zach Braff seems like a douche, but I still love the show just the same

Florence Pugh dating Zach braff makes me both respect her slightly less and him slightly more. It’s confusing.

Didn't know about that. The 21 year age difference is kind of weird.. but my mom's boyfriend is much older than her and she's happy with him so I can't really judge.

Yeah tbh the age difference bothers me way less than...well, she’s so out of his league.

Pugh and Braff may not be the weirdest couple anymore anyways

Fucking stoked for that one. Adrian Lyne seems like the PERFECT person to direct this current iteration of Ben Affleck we're dealing with. I cannot believe he hasn't made a movie in 18 years.

Is it mean to say that, emotionally at least, Florence Pugh seems older than Zach Braff?

Should I bother giving Westworld a try if I'm kind of on the fence about it anyway? I've heard really mixed things but I'm kind of interested by the concept, but I don't want to force myself to watch something I find boring/overly convoluted and once I start something I never stop lol

  19. It's very deliberately paced and definitely convoluted at times, so be aware of that ha. That said, I really enjoy it and don't think there's anything on TV quite like it right now. S3 looks to be a big shift from the first two seasons too.

  20. Convoluted, yes, but I personally never found it boring. Even when I was confused about some parts of the story I was able to get very emotionally invested in most of the characters. Also the show has some really great performances. Might help to spend less energy figuring out what's going on and just being in the moment.

Apparently Last of Us is getting an HBO series or mini series or movie or something?

Also, Scrubs is good....Garden State I’ve never watched with a critical eye. I saw it as a teenager because my HS first love loved that movie as she was an angsty teen who hated being forced by her mom to go to therapy and has been on and off anti depressants and anti anxiety meds before we met felt like ‘totally connected’ to the movie of course so I’ve always enjoyed it for that nostalgic feeling of what it was like to be 17/18 again, and usually watch it without about that much depth in my mind when I see that it’s on haha

Watched the first four episodes today and I'm enjoying it for sure, glad I did it. I have to say the parts that are just basically out of a western are by far my favorite parts though
