When I was little my cousins told me that they rented "Ace Ventura 3: When the City Calls" but left it in the car so I couldn't watch it. I thought about that movie many days.

They also told me that there was a giant dinosaur in the second act of "White Men Can't Jump"

I’d take Carrey’s 90’s comedies over Sandler’s any day of the week.

Dumb and Dumber is top shelf but I never cared for Ace Venture or The Mask

The Mask is another childhood favourite of mine. Liar Liar too.

Dumb and Dumber is his best. The Ventura films are fun but don't really hold up. The first especially. The opening of the second is a classic scene, though. As is the rhino. Was never super into the Mask. Liar Liar was on a few months ago and felt very boring compared to what I remember. The Cable Guy is good.

Farley definitely had the most potential. I wish that he was able to make more films. Tommy Boy is hilarious and has the heart that a ton of other comedies around that time did not have. Farley is such a lovable, sympathetic character.

Billy Madison is the perfect Sandler film. The levels of absurdity that he reaches in that are unmatched by any of his peers. Endlessly quotable, just a great film.

I don't see anyone really quoting Carrey (outside of D&D) anymore without being a total tool.

I’ve talked with him about it. He argues for it as a modern day absurdist take on the classic Capra archetypical family man getting in touch with anti capitalist values a la It’s a Wonderful Life/Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (a film Sandler re-made). His thesis was compellingly written

  17. Click was one of the first movies I watched where I decided to love it ironically, I couldn't have been older than 12 when I watched it but it was just so plainly stupid (especially the overly emotional ending) that I thought it was hilarious but in a way that I didn't think was intended, although maybe it was lol

  20. I think I earnestly liked most of it, but then the ending was so jarring that I was still laughing when it felt like it wanted me to be crying

Farley is great in both Wayne’s World movies, too.

Now those are perfect movies. Probably the best SNL movies released.

I should note I don’t necessarily agree with my friend’s stance but I do think Click has a lot going for it. But then Sandler and Eddie Murphy are two performers who, even in their worst projects, I get some form of enjoyment out of because I enjoy their specific charisma/charm/absurdity.
