I saw Avatar in IMAX 3D with my dad because he was so HYPED. All I really remember was the guy in the row in front of us smoking weed out of his pipe occasionally and the fact that I had to pee, figured it was almost over only for it to last another like two hours. Definitely did not leave a huge impact in my life. I think maybe the scene with the floating flowers or seeds or whatever was pretty.

Side note: what's the worst 3D you've seen? For me it was the first Alice in Wonderland from Tim Burton. Just a complete waste of money, time, and effort for a totally subpar product.

I think honestly the first How to Train Your Dragon was my favorite 3D usage. Animated movies in general look better for me .

They Shall Not Grow one was probably the best and most interestingly utilized 3D experiences I’ve ever had. It almost made the film.

The thing is that film is already in 3D. Even on a cell phone the viewer can easily make out what is in the background and foreground. It is not the next frontier like adding sound or color was.

Martin Scorsese and Jean-Luc Godard are two of the most important directors of all time and even they didn't find that much to use with 3D.

There are plenty of 3D movies that aren’t impressive but when they’re filmed in 3D and done well, it’s extremely effective. Pacific Rim in 3D was one of the best theatrical experiences I ever had. It wasn’t drab and washed out like most other 3D movies I’ve seen.

Prometheus looked really good in 3D tbh. Was subtle enough to not be annoying but prominent enough to be noticeable and added a decent amount of depth without being distracting

9 times out of 10 3D is just a way to squeeze extra money from people, but there are definitely some times it's actually part of the process and worth it

It has been with it a handful of times I've been. Namely really well animated films and occasionally Sci-fi stuff that's 90% cg anyway

I remember Prometheus being pretty good in 3D, as was Guardians of the Galaxy and HTTYD

More importantly, I just watched this movie

    Quotes from the movie:
A civilian humanoid duck from the planet Puckworld :"So I said, 'Insurance? Who needs it?!?!'" which is followed by an explosion as the planet gets attacked.
"In an ancient tomb in the mountains they call Twin Beaks."
"With hockey, all things are possible."

Clash of the Titans. Not only was the movie just really bad, but the action scenes had so many quick cuts that it hurt your eyes in 3D. I'm glad 3D went away haha.

Film Twitter but I've abandoned all pretense of believing I'll ever be a " film person " versus someone who watches movies, also I'm critical of A24

I feel like Lady Bird with the greatest hits CD but why wouldn't you watch a movie for its actors
