Anyone else use Dish (or SlingTV)? There’s a dispute between Dish and AT&T so no HBO Go for me right now. Urgh

    I'm not brave Prestigious

I actually liked Avatar a good amount when it came out, despite its obvious flaws... but even I have NO idea why James Cameron thinks the world wants FOUR sequels. Ultimately the original movie was a great showcase for pioneering effects, but the characters and story were extremely generic and unmemorable. I don’t know a single person who even cares about an Avatar sequel, and I grew up when it came out and was the highest-grossing movie of all time.

Maybe Cameron will surprise people and improve on the original, but I genuinely don’t think these are going to make back the insane production costs... especially considering they’re arriving more than a decade after the original, if Cameron even makes the current release dates.

I think they’re more being made as visual spectacles and not really meant to connect with anyone on an emotional level or anything. It’s like an event movie.

I feel like Avatar made no impact, no one ever talks about it, I think once you get to James Cameron level you're on another planet pun unintended

It’s amazing how little cultural relevancy Avatar has

  7. It’s amazing how little people think it had for how much everyone talks about it in these convos tbh

I've never seen avatar. I've seen like a part of it but my brother in law kept rattling off random facts about all the records the movie broke the entire time so I was like ... Lol k I'm done

Pete Wentz has been reviewing movies on insta stories and I usually skip past it cause they're kinda boring and like awkwardly close up to his face, but his review of the cinematic masterpiece Jason X is A+++++

gf is obsessed with Avatar... but even she thinks 4 sequels almost a decade later is really odd. It's definitely a weird approach by hollywood

  13. I'm not following shows as they air anymore (and the CW shows left Hulu a while ago anyways), so I'm thinking of canceling my Hulu account and using my brother's Amazon Prime for Video (in addition to already using his Netflix).

My 6 month discount for HBO on Hulu is ending this month.
There's a 3 month discount for Showtime on Hulu starting this month.

  14. Finished Fargo S3. It was... good, I guess. Different; felt less like a dark comedy than the other two seasons and was kind of just... dark. Like, it almost felt like the first season of True Detective. The style was there, but the humor was a little lacking. Nikki and Peggy might be my two favorite characters of the series, while Gloria was probably my least favorite protagonist, which kind of reminded me how special a character Nora Durst was in The Leftovers.

Which was your favorite season? I think the first was the best.

Just finished Everwood. What a wild ride. Def miss the early/mid 00's WB shows. They all had a certain weird charm to them.

  17. Kind of hard to say. I do think the first one is "the best" but the second had some really cool characters in it.

Yeah the second is my fav. The whole scene with the Native American character being harassed at the bar is one of my favorite scenes, and is so powerful. Lot of post Vietnam dread throughout s2.

Yes! She was overlooked for so long! Seeing Keir playing the same age that he did a decade ago on Atypical still makes me laugh though.
