That’s awesome. Just goes to show that Paramount just kind of screwed up with where they put “Dead Reckoning” a couple of years ago.

Also, it remains hilarious that all this success with theatrical releases comes on the heels of Netflix Ted saying how they want to kill cinemas.

Especially with a movie that wasn’t even supposed to originally get a theatrical release.

  7. this is just stuff i've gathered from tiktoks of ppl who've actually seen it bc i certainly won't. i'm not spoiler tagging this, but uh, spoilers if anyone even cares at this point

the og was very anticolonialism but the remake removes all of that. ppl who should be white are hawaiian instead. we saw this in the trailer with the ice cream guy, he's supposed to be this overly tanned tourist.
speaking of tourism, this was basically an advertisement for their disney hawaii resort? the fuck?
gantu isn't in it. jumba's the villain. pleakley isn't in drag. instead of aliens not-quite passing as human going around unquestioned anyway, jumba and pleakley aren't even in alien form for most of it. the queer-coding is essentially removed.
and, lastly, but most egregiously, nani leaves lilo. the remake splits up native children. instead of a found family to take care of her, lilo enters the system. bc relying on the gov works out soooo well for poc folks. not to mention nani goes off to study marine biology on the mainland. why can't she study marine biology in hawaii? why does she have to fulfill her individualistic dreams instead of prioritizing family? what happened to nobody gets left behind?

i was honestly excited for this. i love the original. i'm just gonna stick to that.

The hundreds of million dollar production from DISNEY isn’t supposed to have good politics! It’s to appeal to as many people as possible lol

It may have been shot at a Disney resort or something but the only advertisement I recall seeing was for capri sun

Like if you see the movie and have those issues, I disagree but fine

saying “I saw this things on tiktok and I’m mad about them” is silly

You posted 5 times in a row because someone has issues with things that were changed from the original. If that's not valid critiscm, then idk wtf is

Would it have been more acceptable to you if I had replied all at once lol. I’m on mobile, my bad

and I actually think all of that complaining without seeing the film is literally invalid criticism

It wouldn't matter to the average family who don't pay attention to film twitter or social media in general, I came out of my screening of The Final Reckoning and the same time kids and their families were coming out of their screening of Lilo and Stitch and they could not stop raving about how much they enjoyed this film and I was like damn chill out!

It's a remake of an animated film and she laid out the differences that bothered her. What's wrong with that? Most of the movie is probably on tiktok anyway. It's a reason to not want to see the movie. You didn't need to respond at all

Yes. This is the least offensive movie possible. It was made to be this way lol

She hasn’t seen it. Mad at nothing. Like I said.

Mad at the things that she knows were changed because the internet doesn't keep shit a secret. It being least offensive just means it's sanitized if it's taking stuff out of the original.

Like you simply just didn't have to say anything. Let people say their thoughts if it's not hurting anyone. You don't have to police every thing going on every moment

I’m not defending Disney. It’s just naive to expect “good” politics in your giant corporate movies
