Just finished True Detective season 1, and then finally watched the finale of Sense8. True Detective was great, but Sense8 has everything I look for in a show.

 

I need to watch Sense 8 because my husband Alfonso Herrera is in it but I have not gotten around to it

 

I just looked up the Jackass movies (the three main ones and Dirty Grandpa) and they've grossed just under $500 billion.

I had no idea how wildly successful they were. I just figured they were known but nothing as close to that.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Jackass brand as a whole was pushing $750 million with that box office combined with DVD sales, episode syndication, etc...

 

Jackass is like a time capsule for me. Watching that series brings me back to a very special time.


also Sense 8 sucks

 

I'll never get tired of Jackass in any of its' forms, but Wildboyz will always hold a special place in my heart. That's my favorite thing they've produced.

 

Wildboyz is also great. I don’t know why but whenever I see an interview with any of that crew I get sad lol

 

I get sad for Dunn dying and the way it clearly irreparably changed the guys' lives and probably ended the chance of them continuing to do stuff.

 

I just remember every dumbass boy in middle school trying to recreate jackass with their friends and breaking their arms and stuff

Jackass and Sense 8 are great, that is all.

 

Big Little Lies into True Detective into Sharp Objects may have been a mistake. Too much murder mystery haha

 

At least you keep improving in quality

 

BLL was way better than TD ever even wished it was

 

BLL was pretty bad, from what I recall

I liked BLL quite a bit, but thought season one of TD was incredible and much better.

I haven’t seen season two though. Are you including that?

Too early to say on Sharp Objects.

 

True Detective was a gripping, very well made show up until the finale where it fell apart. BLL was hokey, melodramatic and poorly written with decent acting. I feel like critics were grasping at straws praising it as much as they did

 

I loved Big Little Lies and True Detective just wasn't for me haha, different strokes for different folks

 

I'm curious, how did TD fall apart at the end?

 

I felt like the series was hinting at a much larger, darker conspiracy than what we saw. The two leads surviving and the final scene with the stars or whatever was much more optimistic than the tone of the series. It’s been a while since I’ve watched/thought about it, but I was certainly let down by the finale after the leadup. Then again, I can’t remember the last show I loved that stuck the landing. Mad Men, maybe?

 

They said from the beginning that true detective would be pretty straight forward but ia that it completely fell apart. I only watched the first season but I didnt end up liking it as a whole

 

I generally prefer downer endings, but for whatever reason I really wanted them to have a happy ending, so I was pretty happy with it.

Mad Men is the greatest show I’ve ever watched, so I’ll agree with you on that. Perfect ending.

 

Mad Men for sure. And after much thought, Twin Peaks season 3’s ending is perf

 

I'd say the first seasons of True Detective and The Sopranos (since we're on the topic of my recent run through HBO shows) are better in quality, but Big Little Lies is much more relevant to my current interests and tastes, as is Westworld, for different reasons. Veep is somewhere awkwardly in the middle.
