Emmy noms on Thursday, here's the thread so we can all overreact about them together!

The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards

 

No joke I adore SB

 

I love John C Reilly and like Will Ferrell a lot, but Step Brothers was just good, but it never stuck with me past a couple viewings.

 

I definitely prefer Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and The Other Guys
with Step Brothers it's sometimes hard to tell if we're laughing with Brennan and Dale or at them for me

I mean Step brothers is one of the greatest comedies of the past thirty years. I’ll ride for that.

 

Dang, that's a pretty bold statement.

 

the more I saw Step Brothers, the more I liked it. Benefits from repeat viewings more than a lot of movies

 

Step Bros is up there with Hot Rod for sure.

 

Just off the top of my head, I'd say these are better comedies than both of those:

40 Year Old Virgin
Jackass 1, 2, 3
Anchorman
Walk Hard
The Nice Guys
Dumb and Dumber
Ace Ventura 1, 2
Liar, Liar
The Cable Guy
21 Jump Street
The Wolf of Wall Street

 

40 year Old V and Liar, Liar I would agree with.

The Nice Guys and Wolf of Wall Street are better movies too, but I wouldn't say those are just pure comedies.

You also left off South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut

 

I think The Nice Guys and The Wolf of Wall Street are just elevated comedies.

I don't like South Park in general, so I didn't include it.

 

I agree that step brothers was solid but wouldn't crack my top 20 list most likely

 

Step brothers is an absurdist masterpiece.

 

Yeah Step Brothers, Wet Hot American Summer and Macgruber are on another level

 

When I think of 'absurd comedy' I think of things like Tim & Eric, The Eric Andre Show, or Nathan For You.

Step Brothers is the same type of comedy as pretty much any Judd Apatow comedy to me.

 

All company-owned Alamo locations will switch to biodegradable straws by the end of the month.

Also, The Greasy Strangler (although it's not for everyone)

 

haha Oh god, the Greasy Strangler!!!! I forgot about that. The feels like a Tim and Eric style movie for sure.

Also Tim and Eric's billion dollar movie is great.

 

Popstar is horrendously bad.

And yes, Borat is amazing. I think that's one of the greatest of all time.

 

First South Park and now this!?!?

 

Popstar, Hot Rod, and MacGruber are absolute genius
