Wall-E is my favorite.

My hot take is that Up isn't great. It's a good movie, but supremely overrated because of the opening.

 

The hottest take I have is that the back half of WALL-E doesn’t diminish it.

 

It's a step down from the first half, but I agree that it doesn't diminish it too much.

 

My hot take is that Ratatouille is the name of the mouse

 

Coco might be my number 2

 

Hot take is that Inside Out is a cool concept but not really well executed and not re watchable like all their other movies (these are kids movies so being rewatchable is very important since that's what kids do haha)

 

Pixar movies in general are overrated, tbh

 

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASP (yes, that's a really long gasp) TAKE. THAT. BACK.

 

If they're a hair above "good kids movie" people cum in their own mouths over them.

There are some that are really great, but their mostly just "pretty good" movies.

Just kind of a weird joke to make in the same sentence as talking about kids' movies.

The first Kung Fu Panda is up there with the best Pixar movies.

That's not a hot take, its just super true

 

probably, but it made me laugh.

 

Then it was worth leaving it up, lol

 

Pixar hasn’t been up to their standard consistently since Toy Story 3 ended a largely superb run. Inside Out was another peak and I’ve heard good things about Coco so I’m excited to see that. But they did some really pedestrian movies.

Wall-E and Up both have memorable openings that are uniquely beautiful for children’s movies that then cede to traditional action adventure moviemaking but both back halves are very, very good. Up has Dug and Randall and some great absurdist comedy, and the final minutes are as emotionally potent as the first 15 or whatever. Wall-E’s second half is also really great but it’s been awhile since I’ve seen it.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Frozen, and Moana are as good if not better than most of Pixar’s output during the same timeframe.

 

The 2nd half of Wall E never seemed off to me and I didn't know that was a thing.

The politics of Pixar are also kinda shitty sometimes for instance the whole Ratzenberger thing
Also they wrestled creative control of Brave from a woman while Dreamworks had a WOC direct Kung Fu Panda 2, at that point the whole Pixar fanboy/Dreamworks bashing thing wasn't something I could be down iwth

 

One of my coworkers said she hates Paul Rudd. Time to quit.

You can lock up the documentary feature category at the oscars right now. Won’t you be my neighbor isn’t quite perfect, but it’s better than it needs to be, and that will more than lock up that Oscar.

 

Also Incredibles 2 has some of the most incredible action sequences I have ever seen
