Kinda seems like the crime of leaking movies is often, possibly always ignored.

 

Initial Sundance reviews coming in

THR's review of the war satire Atropia starring Alia Shawkat . They say it is a concept with tons of potential for sharp satire of the military-entertainment complex, but they stretched it too thin by the middle a lot of it ends up not landing and not living up to the potential of it's premise. Disappointing, still looking forward to eventually seeing it.


THR's review of Bill Condon's Kiss of the Spider-Woman adaptation starring Diego Luna and Jennifer Lopez. Entertaining, but truly soars to greatness when Jennifer Lopez is on screen as the titular Spider-Woman. They said it is one of the best roles of her career, is the highlight of the film, and might propel her to a big career resurgence.

 

Apparently J-Lo got a standing ovation

 

Feels like a lot of the sundance reviews have really condescending headlines which feels like more of a commentary on the journalists than the movies but it's still irritating

 

2028 doesn’t exist for me yet.

 

Still my opinion one of the biggest mistakes a24 ever done so far is not put out a big awards campaign for The Iron Claw because if they did, this scene alone would of got Zack Efron oscar nominated.. they had something special with that film and they fucked up big time.

 

I haven't gotten around to checking out this movie yet, but will certainly do so after watching that. wow

The Iron Claw is very good but it doesn’t quite reach greatness. Efron’s performance is truly great though.

 

It rocks. Tom Sawyer montage is an all timer

 

Doesn't hold a candle to The Wrestler IMO. But it's fine.

The Wrestler is so good. It is still hard to believe Aronofsky made it.

 

Iron Claw is good. The Wrestler is fantastic. Iron Claw is definitely overhyped on this site.

The Wrestler is the only movie I saw in theaters four times. It will probably be the only movie I see in theaters four times.

 

The story of the Von Erichs is just too much tragedy for one movie (hence, one less brother in it.) But I also felt like I never really got to know the brothers that well. The production and Efron were great though.

 

Watched companion tonight — y’all are gonna love it

I don't know if it was 4 times or not, but there is a solid chance 12 year old me saw The Phantom Menace 4 times. Definitely twice by myself, pretty sure I went at least one or two other times too lol

 

We talk a lot about trailers that we’re sick of, but the Companion one is one that always makes me go, “oh hey, this looks neat. I should go see that.”
