this robot dog Chappie movie that Thomas Jane is in for some reason is going to be the movie of the year

 

Lol, wow. That shot of him using the dog’s back as a ramp is amazing

 

Yup. Such a weird movie. Tonally it was all over the place but I dug that. At first it like it was going to be a horror film. Then an action-adventure. Then obviously sci-fi concepts throughout.

Ending didn’t quite satisfy me but I still liked it and overall loved the movie.

 

I think there are definitely some horrific elements to it. In case you aren't already aware, it was originally a Kubrick film but he died so Spielberg took over.

 

Yeah I just read that. It almost felt like the first act was Kubrick. The second act was fun 90s Spielberg. Then the third act was Close Encounters weird Spielberg lol I can see why it’s a polarizing film but it really worked for me and the little boy that at first I would’ve been like “nope, fuck that, get that demon child out of my house!” I came to love and was heart broken for.

Also Jude Law killed in this. Have only seen a handful of his movies but this was definitely my favorite performance of his.

 

Is anyone else more excited for this Cannes lineup to hit theaters than any year in a while?

 

May 21st,2018 will henceforth be known as the day my soul died. Why? Because I just finished watching Oldboy for the first time.

I feel like I will never smile again. Can somebody tell me how to recover from this?

I like the Handmaiden more than Oldboy but I haven't seen Oldboy since high school, I think. That's all the Chan-wook Park I've seen.

 

I’ve only seen Stoker

 

That's easily his worst.

Sympathy for Mr Vengeance is my favourite but I love everything he's done aside from Stoker.

Not trying to be contradictory, I honestly put it in his top 3. It’s a fantastic riff on gothic horror.

 

Oldboy does not hold up, its pretty ridiculous

Handmaiden and Thirst are his best but I like them all a good amount

 

I need to watch Handmaiden again. Didn’t like it nearly as much as everyone else initially.

 

Oldboy is pretty terrible. Thirst was a waste of time, and after that it did not seem like there was a point to watch any more of his work.

 

Watched Drive for the first time the other night. Not sure what all the fuss was about.

I had seen something about Show Dogs, how the hell is that the actual plot of the movie and no one stopped it. Fucked up

 

My friends wanted to watch O Brother Where Art Thou, which is something I'd never seen before so I said sure since I've enjoyed what I've seen from the Coen Brothers before.

But boy do I hate this and I'm trying my hardest to not be a spoil sport.

Jordan Peterson is a very popular right wing bigot and Canadian psychology professor. The Book of Henry was a very bad Colin Treverrow movie.
