I forgot about Personal Shopper. I liked A Ghost Story more than anything I’ve seen this year but Personal Shopper was great. Lady Bird is in my number 2 spot I think. I’m seeing Phantom Thread tomorrow and Three Billboards soon so positions are subject to change

Yeah this thread is just making me feel bad about not seeing any movies this year. I'm so behind.

  5. Speaking of the absence of non-English movies, I saw a Polish movie called Spoor, which looked gorgeous and featured one of my favorite lead performances of the year. I also saw a Brazilian movie called Good Manners, which is hard to describe, but it's wild and definitely one of the more memorable movie-going experiences of the year. I recommend both if/when they get released.

I want to see both so badly! I’ve contemplated seeing The Disaster Artist this weekend, but that would involve driving into Hollywood and I hate Hollywood so much

this has been a relatively good year for movies in my opinion. I hated the past few years but i really like my top 10 right now (holding out until i see a few more)

That's definitely part of it. Having a kid, work being busy, wife is also pregnant but doesn't really consider going to the movies to be relaxing so we're spending more time at home. Also spending more free time watching TV shows over movies these days

I have only seen 19 films this year. The standouts so far: Song to Song, Personal Shopper, Graduation, Lady Bird, and the Lost City of Z. The worst film so far was Alien Covenant, but I have not seen a lot of trash yet; the second worst was Okja and that isn't even that bad of a movie.

The last movie I saw in theaters was Logan Lucky, which I enjoyed, but work has made seeing movies nearly impossible. I did watch and enjoy the Meyerwitz Stories the other day.

Standouts would be Personal Shopper, Get Out, A Ghost Story, the Big Sick, A Quiet Passion, and Raw, with honorable mentions to Song to Song, Logan Lucky, and Colossal. My selections might partially be a reflection of how little I've been to the movies this year.

I really need to finally watch The Room before Disaster Artist comes out.

There was a ton of behind-the-scenes gossip of Lauer's being a real asshole and situations like that occurring. I'm sure there's several people who are overjoyed by the news at the Today Show. After hearing that before, I had a feeling he'd be gone.
