i had my first listen with one of my best friends who is also a shikari superfan driving back from seeing poison the well and converge and it was absolute magic
Without looking at other opinions I want to share my own: I think this is really good. It may have their worst or second worse opener but the album really takes off after it. There's a pretty good mix of their older styles and modern stuff on here that blends pretty well. As a whole I think it's one of the most cohesive albums of theirs and I like that it has musical nods to some of their older stuff. It feels extremely Enter Shikari with their lyrics and viewpoints this time around. There's moments where I wanted it to be a bit more like Common Dreads or AFFOC but I think they shaped things in an interesting way that I appreciate as their own things. My standout track is by far "it's Okay". I also like "Find out The Hard Way", "demons" and "... i can't keep my hands clean". The only complaints I would have would be production stuff and some guitar tones that I wish hit me harder but I need to listen on different speakers before I decide. I think live they should be good additions the the setlists.
"It's Okay" is probably the only one I'm not really into, and I think the opener is one of the best on here.
i do love that opener, idk if its one of my favorites here specifically but it could be in their top 3 openers
The opener is excellent for me. I don't particularly care for 'its OK' or 'I can't keep my hands clean' but I've never liked Shikari do that type of song.
The opener is just a weaker version of tons of songs they've done before, "it's OK" felt fresh for them.
I really like this, I haven’t listened to anything from these guys since Skies. What’s fun record and I really love the desperation in the lyrics. They really made a record for the times, and now I’m going backwards in their discography. Idk why there’s so much hate for Kiss.
I don't think Kiss is largely hated, even I don't hate it, it's just one of my least favorites by them
I just came here to say the second half of Flick of a Switch II. might be the best thing I've ever listened to. Chills every time. Thanks.
Lose Your Self, Dead In The Water, demons, Flick of a Switch, Shipwrecked are all standouts for me. It's very easy to throw back on repeat with those songs looming and waiting to shine.
I don’t know if we listening the same album cause it does literally nothing for me lol. Kinda disappointed. still waiting for Common Dreads II.
dead in the water is becoming a big highlight for me, the vocal production feels like a much more fully realized and exciting version of stuff they tried on kiss, and that final chorus is gigantic shipwrecked is prob my fav singular song here, good lord what a hook, but that third movement to the closer is right up with it and is almost too much for me to listen to without welling up a little bit
I need to give Shipwrecked some more time because it's doing absolutely nothing for me right now But this is how things happen, sometimes things need time to sink in
This thing has really opened up for me the past few days. Totally get the Shipwrecked appeal now after adding it to a running playlist also. I think the closing trio is something really special now too
Spaceship Earth III had me absolutely fucking BAWLING, that's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard Smashed it. FUCK.
