Agree wholeheartedly. Those demos/songs around that TTTS era are so special to me. I have been trying to get them on vinyl for a while now. Might need to do a custom lathe haha.
talking about Rou's vocals, that specific low inhale scream he does on TTTS that just sounds really bad lol. makes Closing absolutely unlistenable to me
The only song I don't really care for on Common Dreads is Step Up. There always seems to be one song like that on each album for me. I don't like Search Party that much either on AFFOC.
Haha I don't think it's bad, I just don't really vibe with it. I like Pack of Thieves so much more and I think they occupy the same kinda energy.
I see that! Search Party is one of my favorites on the record, the build up and twinkly synths are gorgeous, then the riff in the bridge hits hard. Love the different opinions though! im halfway through CD and it’s good and the energy is off the charts, just a bit tiring and way too long imo. still stand by the statement that it was a transition record, one where they were trying to figure out where to go
Insanely jealous of anyone who got to hear Undercover Agents, Stand Your Ground, Enter Shikari, and The Last Garrison. They played none of those during the last tour. edit: Radiate was supposed to be played too! One of my faves.
I had no idea this existed. It sounds crazy different. Sounds so much just like everything else at the time haha
Didn't realize it was coming out in mere minutes It's fine but I think it would benefit from a longer runtime or looser song structures. I don't know if it's exactly the main thing that has been bothering me this era, but overall these pre-release singles aren't getting me hyped as much as ones from previous albums did.
It's really weird because I couldn't put my finger on what I didn't like about them but you're totally right especially with It Hurts and Bloodshot. It feels hollow and just formulaic in the lyrical style and the choruses.
I've liked all the songs without loving any of them. It feels as formulaic - or at least, as much as a Shikari song can. If we're ranking albums Common Dreads Nothing is True AFFOC The Spark The Mindsweep TTTS And if you put all their non-album singles together into a single release, it would probably be between AFFOC and The Spark.
