I've never seen them live but I was just browsing through YouTube and this came up. Absolutely unreal how good of a show this is. A wild setlist. They throw in Destabilise, Slipshod, Quelle Surprise, Juggernaut, Mothership, Meltdown and more.
I was at this show! Couldn’t believe they were playing such a small venue. Saw them the night after too. Such a sick show
Once in a while I rewatch this and remain in awe at their energy. Meltdown's intro at the 5 min mark goes off!
I've never not been to an Enter Shikari show and been enthralled with their energy. Always kill it no matter the size of the venue either; they always seem to make it feel like an energetic crowd of millions
Yeah if you've never seen Shikari live - whether you're a fan or not - you're missing out. I'd say in terms of consistency and coupled with the number of times I've seen them, they're the best live band I've seen.
Got tickets to Chicago, even though I didn't pre-order the album? The link on Bottom Lounges page says general is 26th, but from Shikari's website it let me go to Ticketweb and get a pair. Am I missing something lol?
You do not need to purchase the album to get a ticket! It may be a glitch or something, but if you had be an Artist Pass, you’d be able to see the dates. That’s the idea anyway lol
Bottom Lounge is my favorite venue actually but it's fairly simple. Just a basic empty room that holds like 700. Interesting. Didn't even have to do the Artist Pass thing, just scooped em. Confirmation email, QR code tix and everything. Just gonna roll with it then!
Listened to it a couple of times on my walk to work. It kinda slid into the back of my mind immediately and wasn't really as "captivating" whereas when Pls Set Me On Fire was released, I was super engaged. Definitely a great track, but maybe I need another few more listens to get it.
I like it but I find the chorus a bit repetitive and also empty, like it's missing classic Enter Shikari sounding synths or something. Going through another listen, I think they're actually there but buried in the mix for some reason.
All I know is these songs are going to go off live I agree the mix for both of these are kind of, weird?
Interesting! It feel quintessential ES to my ears, way more than the baroque-ish feel of Nothing is True
I'm thinking of ranking all the Shikari Singles they've ever released from albums and I'm pretty sure "It Hurts" would be on the bottom. I'm not including just random singles because some of those are straight up bad.
