It's usually about 3 years between each album, so I imagine there won't be a new full-length until 2026. They usually have a few one-off singles between each record though, so I'd be surprised if there's no new music at all this year.
2018 remains the only year they took off completely I believe (2021 Moratorium release counts). Wonder if they'll do that again this year.
On a recent podcast, Rou said they were a bit behind their schedules but they were working on new music with the goals of getting something out later this year. He said they got "surprises" in store, hinting at something related to The Zone as well. They'll probably follow their usual template by dropping one or two singles, collabs or anything then properly come back with an album around this time next year. Rou being currently busy with his theater work makes that even more likely.
Oh I also remember him saying they were very close to bringing The Feast back on their recent setlists but weren't sure how many people in the crowd would even recognize it.
Seems like they are teasing The Zone on vinyl from their discord post saying "24 hours". That's 5am my time, so I will be asleep and have no idea. EDIT: People are saying that it's actually for the Wembly live performance, my mistake.
i wish i could be more optimistic about new stuff but i really did not vibe with this album outside of like three songs lol. had a pretty bad time seeing them live touring it too even though theyre still pretty energetic performers. just did not connect with the direction they went in at all pretty much everything else under their name slaps though so
What happened when you saw them? Just wasn't a fan of their setlist? Or did they sound bad? They've knocked it out of the park every time I've seen them so I'm just curious lol
the former which i realize is an unfair critique to levvy at a show but it was basically like they catered the entire setlist towards my least favorite shikari songs, and then whenever they finally did play a song i loved (which isnt hard since its most of their discog lol) they made a bunch of weird alterations to the songs that made them all worse. i normally love the way they change shit up live and offer a unique experience from the records, but it was pretty much nothing but swings and misses for me unfort
Holy shit. The drone footage of the crowd is amazing. I saw them opening for tdwp in like 2012 and knew they were bigger in the UK, but damn
Watched the Shikari set on my flight. Did not disappoint. However, I think Sssnakepit was kinda clunky/maybe could do with a different song instead. I will see them live every time they are in my area.
sorry for the random bump but while the Shikari drought goes on I think you all would enjoy the new album by Pendulum. they always rode the line between dnb and alt rock but their comeback has some strong metal influence in the mix as well. this song especially could go right on a Shikari album I reckon:
