I scrambled right on past that headline and listened without realizing it was the opener, haha. Woulda held off too if I’d have known
Here for this. I met Joe when I saw them tour with Foxing and that other band we don’t discuss. I wasn’t rly into their set at the time but he was so nice and so enthusiastic. He was just sitting off to the side of the merch table on one of those fold out metal chairs but he made it a point to talk to people and thank them. I told him I rly liked his jazzmaster and he said he rly liked my hair. anyways excited for this haven’t rly listened to the two released songs much and I’ll probably hold off on listening to the opener
had the same thought til I heard these singles. I’m at peace with it if this is the music he’s making now.
ultrasound helped ease the feeling for sure, I haven't listened to Marian yet cause I kind of just took for granted that it would be good. it's cool that it's building hype for this though, hopefully people pay more attention to this project I probably go back to Pretty Years the least but imo that's a reflection on the strength of the rest of their discog more than a slight against Pretty Years. "Have a Heart", "Mallwalking", "Dancing Days" are all among some of the best songs he's written but the record as a whole doesn't reach the same highs as the rest of their discog for me. an 8 among 9s or whatever.
I am more often compelled to go back to Pretty Years than any of their records but I am not as big of a fan of their first two as a lot of people. I like them, just don't typically gravitate toward them
Their first three all kinds take turns for me as my favorite. If I had a gun to my head and had to pick one of them it would probably be WTAM, but thankfully I don’t think anyone is going to do that ever.
