Ask him about the lyrics. They're pretty unusual in the references they make, but they're woven into the fabric of it all very seamlessly. Is it because they're things he thinks about often (ie references to philosophers and politics as a framework in which larger emotional labor can be processed through) or a more meticulous process beginning with an idea that maybe he wants to make more vague to make it less about himself? Has he ever tried to play his songs with a band/outside collaborators on a longer term basis, and if not/so, why?
there are definitely a few full band videos out there, i think especially in like the pre-germany days he had more of a band as well, the daytrotter session i know at the very least is full band probably all hard due to location
Yeah, that's why I said longer term basis. Like, I get the logistics of touring with a band while living in Germany is probably just not doable, but I'm also wondering about long term collaboration in just a writing or recording sense
LOIC, Tanline Debris, and 5-hour Energy are my three faves so far. Riot for Descendant Command is growing on me. I feel like I would have liked it more on the first half of the record.
always so exciting when new people join us here! just makes me happy when people discover this brilliance
Disclaimer: Not trying to bring negativity into the thread, I really love this album. But I don't think I've ever disliked a song on an album I love as much as Riot for Descendant Command.
i genuinely went after this album after seeing cwhit hype it so much and i'm not regretting it, very different from mostly anything i've ever heard. just don't get the point of the closing track being 3 minutos of music + an 8-minute static noise outro. other than that this is really interesting
