It's all so good, my heart is so full rn Warmth Perimeter sounds like a Baths song and that's a really really good thing
as i've said, warmth perimeter sounds like what i expected this album to mostly sound like if you haven't listened to the stephen steinbrink album you should check that one out too
im just gonna use this post to post my thoughts as i listen, i'll edit with each new song. probably won't be a lot on the lyrics though. tbh didn't expect wasted on the senate floor to open the album, but definitely opens the album with a bang. still love this song, great way of keeping my hype. on schopenhaur in berlin, i consciously barely listened to the singles (besides wasted) so this is still new to me. loving how straightforward this album is (musically/instrumentally) starting but that the arrangements aren't thoughtless skeletons. great song. the ending of this one feels intimate and joyous and i love that ugh yes, 30,000 euros is so sick, reminds me of 90s pop music in the best way in the harmonies. how does he get every song sounding perfectly accessible but not at all in a way that seems empty? he does that so well. the background instrumentals are so good, has he ever toured or played a show with a backing band of some sort? because god i would love to hear some of these sounds live. i love how pop he can get his voice to be with how non traditional it is. brown recluse now. this one starts off sounding like what i would expect a follow up to western teleport would sound like -- for some reason this one seems like it could be on that album, or a b side perhaps. loving the spaciousness of this one, it reminds me of midwest emo. tanline debris: loving that initial syncopation, and the way he uses the vocals to accentuate that. again, the background instrumentals are so good, this song also similarly reminds me of the spaciousness of midwestern emo, and then that build up towards the end sort of reinforces that for me. the layering on this song is so cool, somewhere between really lush and feeling homemade. warmth perimeter, enjoyed the ambient beginning and then how it gets dance like. reminds me of 80s pop and i think if this song was on orlando sentinel, it would've been the best song. it's not exactly like the songs on that album, because this one feels a lot more inviting/less claustrophobic than some of the dj songs on OS, but it feels like they come from a similar headspace. all im gonna say about the title track is that this might be his best song maybe? damn. "you don't know what love is, you definitely don't" i wasn't expecting god save coastal dorset huh i know a couple of you mentioned christian but this could've been a goodness song imo Low Orbit Cannon is now one of my favorite emperor x song. it expands on the live versions i've heard by further immersing itself in that wide open pastoral sense. the extra layers just reinforce that for me and i love this song a lot wow wow wow Riot for Descendant Command is a curveball and another goodness sounding song but maybe in the alternate universe where goodness didn't take itself as seriously as it does and lets itself really feel the joy the music promises before the journey was over. anyway song bangs, makes me wanna dance and sing with someone i really love even though i don't know the lyrics at all 5 Hour Energy also sounds like a Western Teleport follow up song, and it doubles down on the pastoral quality of Low Orbit Cannon and i fucking love it so far. im gonna go ahead and just leave it at that because i don't think my feelings will change on it.
legit sounds like Christian on Riot, or other way around depending on how you look at it. did a double take when that came on.
sounds like christian more on god save coastal dorset imo still think christian is doing backing vocals there
i don't usually say this outside of hype or fucking around and stuff but. this really might be the best album i hear all year and it's weird i feel that way after one listen
oh and since i just remembered, the looping ambient part on 5 Hour reminds me of the similar part in "an attempt to tip the scales" by bright eyes
I might be there too tbh not that I'm all that surprised, Western Teleport is a desert island record for me and this is atleast as good if not better
Man, it sounds likely three of my top four albums are gonna be released on the same day haha. Can't wait to hear this.
