it'll probably be streaming by then tbh one week away guys! can't wait for the hype to get real in here
oh speaking of hype that reminds me, orlando sentinel is weird but i like it. i cannot imagine at all how those songs translate in a live setting
sarkozy he performs a lot, it's the same intro as allahu akbar basically haha. though i've seen him do it "karaoke" version too, that was so fun. i've also seen daytrader stadium
Took me like 4 or 5 listens to really appreciate Western Teleport and now I can't stop listening to it. Anyone have a recommendation on where I should go next in his discography?
i feel like we go through this like twice a month, haha. the live album is good, since no other album works as cohesively or even just individually as songs as well as western teleport does. until this album at least. orlando sentinel is pretty weird but has some really good songs interspersed
Orlando Sentinel was pretty weird. I think I liked it, but I've definitely gotta give it some more listens. The interludes were definitely interesting haha
i read a review and apparently the promo version at first was an EP and didn't have the interludes. then he wrote the review and was sent the new record was like the seven new interludes, haha.
I love this album. I'm not as familiar with emperor x as casey is (is anyone?) I feel like this is his most accessible, though. I think it'll win over a lot of people who've never listened before
this is pretty easily his most accessible hanging around with a bunch of people in the US in great bands collaborating with him to make this happen really helped him a ton. going to try to do a bit of an impromptu interview with him at my show on tuesday (put it on the new site maybe???) and get a bunch about the recording experience from him. have a whole lot to ask him
"After requesting an advance copy of the five-song Orlando Sentinel EP from Emperor X (né Chad Matheny), I was told to hang tight a few days due to “some last-minute changes.” Transfer issues? Some additional overdubbing? Nope. Nine additional tracks, put together in a week. I should’ve been surprised, but somehow I wasn’t. This is the same guy, after all, who buries cassettes of his music in the dirt, rocks laser tag arenas, and lyrically plumbs the depths of urban transit, Medicaid, and rural Pakistan. I’m still not convinced Matheny is of this world; he’s too wide-eyed, too curious, too unpredictable. Nine new tracks in a week? Sure, why not." Album Review: Emperor X – The Orlando Sentinel
sooooo looks like chad was in studio with The World is... recording vocals for them....... cant wait to see what comes of that.
wish that video the hotelier made with Chad doing the spoken word parts would have turned out to their liking, would have been cool
