JID went nuts on “Fuel” so there's that

Easily his best album since Eminem Show, but everything after GC2 should be considered bonus tracks.

Houdini & Tobey are 2 of the absolute worst tracks on here and those are the singles lol

Album should of ended with Temporary and Bad One should of been replaced with the 2chains track right before

the jelly roll song just feels like a repeat of Arose (which was one of like 3 decent songs on revival)

No way. "Brand New Dance" and "Evil" are way, way worse.

I think the concept of the album is very clear but what’s unclear is the purpose

The 2 chainz song was a bonus song that was only up on his site for a week. Also brand new dance is a shelved encore song.

The purpose is that's the album he wanted to make, I don't think there needs to be a universal purpose for someone to make an album. It's art, the artist should make what they want and we can decide if we like it or not. I don't think this is the big statement people were expecting it to be, it's just a loosely conceptual album

My guy needs to stop referencing Christopher Reeve in his songs. Still doing it in 2024 feels dated and corny as hell

Well one of them is 20 years old and a song that was supposed to be on encore but was left off.

They would hate MMLP if it released nowadays and that shits an absolute classic lol

Yeah but they all center around that song being used and the fact that 'slim shady' has been gone for so long

agreed and art is left to interpretation of the audience, when released to the public it is subject to review which to me my review is the album lacks purpose. I don’t think albums need a universal purpose but if I’m told that it’s a concept album, to take it in as a whole then its a completely fair assessment to say I understood it but found it lacking in purpose.

It’s a weak effort by a rapper who has maintained a goat status while delivering 20+ years of music failing to live up to the hype of his glory years - it’s actually sad. It’s not a surprise though - rap is a young persons game and there are dozens of artists putting out work that trounces Marshall’s

Boy. I didn't like this at all. GC2 (one of the few good songs) is like in She Hulk when they make fun of how every Marvel project ends, knowing full well they're going to keep doing the same thing forever lol. Feels like 75% of this album is about Christoper Reeves, Jenner and transgenders and little people. Lord lol

Pretty sure Tobey is the only song on this I'll ever listen to regularly. Felt like the longest album I've ever listened to

Just reading lyrics alone I already know this shit is gonna be trash to me which isn’t shocking cus it’s Eminem in 2024

Not ranking this album since I’ve only listened through a couple times so far (don’t care much for it, though)

    MMLP
    SSLP
    MMLP2
    The Eminem Show

    Recovery
    Relapse

    Revival
    Kamikaze
    MTBMB
    Encore

Gave this another listen with headphones. Definitely some good moments on here, but still a lot of these lyrics make me eye roll. The concept is supposedly him reckoning with his past lyricism and killing that once and for all, but really it just feels like he wanted to have an excuse to have that shock value persona again. Like he wants to have his cake and eat it too.

The Jelly Roll song actually grew on me on second listen, but as someone already said it's kinda the same conceptually as "Arose" from Revival. Just with a better hook.

Renaissance, Fuel, Head Honcho, Guilty Conscience 2, Somebody Save Me, Houdini and Tobey are the standouts for me.

Gimme light, gimme love, gimme fire

Listened to TDOSS twice and it definitely has some of his best flows on display even if some lyrics are lazy and low hanging fruit edgelord shit. Overall the production is also a big step up from the last few albums. Will see how it pans out within his discography.

    The Eminem Show
    MMLP
    MMLP2
    SSLP
    Recovery
    Kamikaze

    mm2

    encore
    kamikaze

tdoss is likely ahead of revival but behind kamikaze, not totally sure and would rather not think too much about that

Im so surprised to see how many people are ranking MMLP2 highly. Aside from a few standout tracks, I just hated that era of production choices where it was like 80s rock samples constantly.
