Listening now. River will for sure be a huge single. The weird thing with Eminem is that its obvious on every song that he's one of the great rappers of all time, but he's just been picking some real shitty beats and hooks lately. The second half of Untouchable is actually pretty good, but its ruined by the god awful beat and chorus.
yeesh, idk if i can get through this in one listen. really rough outside of a few tracks and i'm only halfway through
I need Em to go back to working with just Dre, Rick Rubin is horrible paired up with Em tbh. Not sure if we will get another album from him or not tbh
holy fuck, I thought Craig Jenkins was joking about the Boogie Nights song sample this song is awful but that sample is almost worth it. idk, maybe it's funnier to me because i literally just watched Boogie Nights
Finished my first listen. This honestly isn't that bad. It gets so much better in the second half. The biggest takeaway tracks for me were: Believe River (gonna be a huge hit) Like Home Framed (reminds me of his earlier stuff) Nowhere Fast In Your Head Arose (Lyrically one of his best recently)
I would say, generously, that about a third of this is passable. It says something when your track with Ed Sheeran feels like some kind of relief four tracks (and 20+ minutes) in.
Pretty damn disappointed with this. Maybe it'll grow on me, I have a soft spot for Em, but this was all just bleh after one listen. Gonna reevaluate in a bit but yeah... no.
I like Arose and Castle. I hate so many of the beats and feel like I simply just don't care about much of what he's saying lol.
Just finished my first listen... I honestly think this is easily better than Encore and probably better than Recovery. Probably put it about even with MMLP2, which I generally like aside from some corny moments/songs, which is the same real complaint I have about this album. Right off the bat, Tragic Endings and Need Me are absolute trash (I'm like 99% the latter was just gonna be a Pink song featuring Em that she decided not to use), and some otherwise good tracks have pretty bad hooks (Offended, Remind Me, Heat and Bad Husband come to mind), but other than that I think this is a pretty solid listen. Would never call this one of my favorite rap albums of the year or anything but definitely not worthy of the hate it's getting imo (strong emphasis on "imo")
What in the name of christ is that Framed song? One of the most irritating things I have ever heard. Offended was pretty awful too. I liked Walk On Water, Untouchable and Like Home though.
Thats funny Framed is actually one of my favorites on the album hahaha. Reminds me a lot of his older stuff. Also Offended is amazing aside from the shitty chorus. Someone on reddit figured out that its the fastest Eminem's ever rapped - 6.71 words per second.
