Also I decided to revisit the bonus songs from MMLP2 deluxe and shit some of these songs are really good. Groundhog Day is a banger, how the hell did this not make the final album cut?
The only other albums I can remember him not liking at all are Speedin' Bullet to Heaven by Kid Cudi and New English by Desiigner lol
'Castle' and 'Arose' back to back to finish the album is the Eminem I crave. Really great. There are some terrible tracks, but there are also a bunch of tracks I really enjoy.
Couple of lyrics in the remix of "Chloroseptic” featuring 2 Chainz where he disses anyone who hated Walk On Water/his new album. Eminem Has Words for Critics of 'Revival' on "Chloraseptic" Remix f/ 2 Chainz
There may be some merit to what he's saying in regards to prejudging the album, but then again, it also wasn't very good, so yeah, those are my thoughts.
Eminem is in a weird state of his career where it feels like he is either putting himself on defense or going "fuck it" and releasing a problematic Slim Shady-style song. It's like he's trying to have his cake and eat it.
That verse on the remix is better than most of the album. Its so weird how Eminem can be a top 5 greatest rapper, but still put out mediocre or trash albums. He really needs Dre back as a producer.
I'd say it's great to hear Em is listening to the criticism because it means that he'll hopefully be back with a fantastic album but pretty much the same thing has happened for the last 3 or 4 albums now lol
I said this at the time in this very thread. I think the album is meh...some good, some bad, overall just average at best. But everyone saw the track list and decided it sucked. I've never looked at a track list, features or not, and though "well, this album completely sucks!" Something something book by it's cover.
He put out Recovery a year after Relapse, I could see the bad reception to this album inspiring him to quickly make another one again (although Relapse is waaay better than Recovery)
