lots of hype for this one but that trailer didn't sell me

 

Up on Netflix today apparently

 

Is this as bad as the reviews say?

 

I haven’t seen it yet but it’s doing really well at the awards so far and seems to be a lock for getting quite a few Oscar noms

 

Never posted my thoughts - it's pretty good! There were two songs in the middle that were a clear cut above the rest...however I don't think it should be getting any awards praise per se, and it seems too niche to clear that. However, it's certainly a worthwhile watch. the internal morality of it is an interesting and emotional premise that gets glossed over in favor of the musical bits though, which is probably my biggest critique

I appreciated the boldness of this movie. It took a lot of risks and big swings and that’s what interests me nowadays in films.

 

The rare musical without a single good song.

have only heard negative things to the point that it’s baffling it’s getting so much award fare across all the different award bodies in a way i can’t really remember since dating back to the artist

 

It is the perfect awards film.

 

saldana was the closest thing to a bright spot here. this was so damn bad and borderline infuriating
