The transition from Tooth and Nail to independent was a little rough. YWNA is solid, but yeah, the art is kinda bleh, especially if you aren’t that invested in the band. And marketing for the album was very lackluster. Eve had the buttcrack controversy that pissed off a lot of their religious fanbase, White Line Fever isn’t even available anymore, but I remember that one barely getting pushed. And then Rub Some Dirt On It, if I remember correctly, had a live version out for close to a year before the studio version which just made the roll out of the studio one very clumsy. I almost wish a label like Rise, Equal Vision, or Hopeless would pick them up for a release just to pump a little marketing back into the band and kind of push one clean release cycle.

Nah, I love this take. You Were Never Alone is easily the band's best record outside In Shallow Seas... and maybe The Question. Opening trio of songs is insane.

I have a theory that the album art does it in. It makes it look like some sort of compilation album. I also think the production is lacking just a tad compared to prior albums, but the songs themselves (all of them) are absolute dynamite.

I forget this a lot, but yeah, the production seems a bit too clean and safe I wanna say? Like the record sounds fine, just could've been mixed with more energy intact.

id like to think that at least in our chorus community it could’ve caught fire but those are all good points I didn’t consider. Def agree the album art was a disastrous choice. Feel bad saying that given how much I’m sure it means to the band but even as a collage (which is too corny for me to accept under almost any circumstance) it just looks bad. The color tape is cool I guess.

It might still be available in their merch store, and I think Emeryland members can download it still, but unless I missed it being put back up, they removed it from streaming/general sale I wanna say like 2 years ago now. It's been awhile so memory might be slightly fuzzy, but pretty sure when they talked about it on a podcast they basically just cited not being happy with the mix so they were gonna remix and then put it back out.

I have it downloaded on my phone. They really messed up the master for that one. The eps were mastered a lot better than the album versions of those songs.

Been revisiting their catalog as they are coming to my hometown for their 20 year tour of The Question and playing a barcade basement. It's a cool little full circle moment for me cause one of my first shows EVER was seeing FFTL, Emery, and Brazil in like 03 or 04 and they played in a tiny grange hall.

I'm really hoping that them using 'World Tour' on their posters for this initial US run is backed up with their first UK tour dates in what seems like forever. I last saw them in 2010. A lifetime ago.

Hoping for your sake! If I get any indication on how literal the word "world" is on my date, I will let you know!

I remember I'm Only A Man getting a lot of hate upon its initial release but I still find a lot of good stuff on it nowadays. After the Devil Beats His Wife goes hard imo

I liked IOAM, but there was a lot of backlash to their direction on that album. I think Matt & Toby talked about it on a podcast. It goes some different directions, but overall I thought it was fine.

I feel like legacy wise, IOAM fills the same role in their discography as Fall Out Boy's Folie à Deux. It got a lot of backlash at release, but I feel like in the time since, it's moved its way to the top half of most people's rankings. I'd probably personally put it 2nd, just behind In Shallow Seas. Good album, love what they did with the re-recording too.

I'm excited to get to the re-release. As a long time Emery fan, I've never truly dug into any of the albums beyond WDWWW
