If it pays the bills then I’m all for it (they absolutely deserve it) but I don’t rank this record as high as others do so this doesn’t excite me. For me; my top 3 are Shallow Seas, The Question, and Rub Some Dirt On It.
I was just talking to a buddy of mine earlier this week about how strong their discography is. TWE is great and it's like 7th for me. Only album I don't care for is White Line Fever. Outstanding: In Shallow Seas We Sail Eve Rub Some Dirt On It The Question Great: (these are honestly interchangeable for me) You Were Never Alone I'm Only a Man The Weak's End Good: We Do What We Want Okay: White Line Fever Extremely solid and consistent band.
Okay okay I’ll rank too :) The Question In Shallow Seas We Sail Rub Some Dirt On It I Am Only A Man (a very close 4th tbh) Eve The Weak’s End You Were Never Alone We Do What We Want White Line Fever
The Weak's End I'm Only a Man Eve -- The Question We Do What We Want -- In Shallow Seas We Sail You Were Never Alone -- Rub Some Dirt On It White Line Fever
Word on the street is they’re going into the studio with Gillespie to write their next record after this tour… the one that they recorded last year got scrapped as an album project but the songs may come out as individual parts.
I really dropped off after in shallow seas. Loved the BC pod when Joey was around and still follow them a bit, but really fell off with the new music. Those first 4 albums are all so great and unique, but they lost me a bit with WDWWW and YWNA. I've tried with the newer albums, but I just can't get into them as much. I've got the Weak's End, Question, and ISSWS studio versions all on vinyl and would love the studio version of IOAM too if it ever gets pressed, but I thought the re-recorded version was just missing something and the mix didn't sound very good. And maybe it's the production for the newer DIY albums that don't pull me in the same way, but I digress. Long Live Emery. Happy for them that they've been able to continue as a band for the past 20 years and are still going strong.
I don’t have a definitive ranking outside of YWNA being my favorite. It always surprised me that that record didn’t put ‘em back on the larger scene radar, especially since it coincided with their podcasts taking off. It just felt like such a transcendent magnum opus. It’s elegant, it’s brutal, it’s diverse. The perfect Emery record.
i agree, im cool too with album tours but if i don't care enough for the album i just won't go, save the tickets for the fans who really wanna hear that album play through live
Wouldn't agree that it's perfect but it's just behind In Shallow Seas and The Question for me so it's good to see someone giving it recognition. My ranking would look like this: 1. In Shallow Seas We Sail 2. The Question 3. You Were Never Alone 4. We Do What We Want 5. The Weak's End 6. I'm Only a Man 7. Eve 8. Rub Some Dirt on It 9. White Line Fever Is the band still re-releasing White Line Fever btw?
I wanna say my ranking would be: 1: In Shallow Seas We Sail 2: I'm Only a Man 3: The Question 4: We Do What We Want 5: You Were Never Alone 6: The Weaks End 7: White Line Fever 8: Rub Some Dirt On It 9: Eve But I haven't really spent a lot of time with White Line Fever, Rub Some Dirt On It, or Eve, so this list would probably be a bit different if I had listened to those records more. I'll get back to them eventually.
Need to relisten to their newer stuff. Rub didn't really stick with me, need to go back. Same with Eve and White Line
I don't know his name from memory but he's been in the band since Rub Some Dirt On It at least. Remember first noticing him in the album livestream a couple years back.
Chris Keene. Played guitar in Number One Gun and Saves the Day. Had/has a band he sings in called Surrogate.
Now there's an old T&N band name I haven't heard in a long time. Was not aware of the Surrogate/Saves the Day connection.
was listening to spotify on my tv last night and tihs photo came up.. two things emery looks old and who is the guy in the middle in camo, i don't recognize him
oh ok, i was like hes not OG crew, didn't know they added another dude but yah i was thinkin they haven't aged well lol
They look like normal dudes at that age, I don’t think “haven’t aged well” is accurate. I’d save that for someone like Craig Owens.
