Eve The Question In Shallow Seas We Sail You Were Never Alone I'm Only a Man We Do What We Want The Weak's End
Can only speak for myself here but it's just pretty rough in some songs in terms of Production/sounding dated/half baked songwriting. It's not a bad record and for it being their first record from 2004? Not bad at all - but they have written MUCH better records since then.
FUCK OK The Question Shallow Seas YWNA Eve The Weaks End I am only a man We do what we want 5 that i absolutely love, hoping for a 6th next year.
Surprise, shallow Seas is the best :) Shallow Seas The question YWNA WDWWW I'm only a man Eve Walls I mean the weaks end
YWNA - diverse yet cohesive, easily their most mature songwriting imo. The weak’s end - love how dark and moody this album sounds Shallow Seas - this came out when I got away from the band a bit but on revisits it’s splendid The Question - this rests a lot on nostalgia but man these are fun songs Eve - good songwriting but lacks the “I need to listen to that again” factor of the others WDWWW - honestly I don’t even remember this record very well but IOAM makes me mad IOAM - some solid songs here and when I revisit it it’s not so bad but it just feels like a mess Honestly 2 thru 5 are all interchangeable, they’re all so different it’s heavily mood-dependent and ranking doesn’t really do it justice. YWNA blew me away tho I don’t think they’ll top it but man am I excited for each attempt.
i think its one of the best scene releases of the past 5 years. wish post-hardcore still had staying power with more people because i think it could've been a classic.
Can't rank them due to nostalgia factors in play but this is where I settle on things: My favourites / their best albums: The Weak's End, The Question, In Shallow Seas We Sail, Eve Good albums: I'm Only A Man, You Were Never Alone Average / barely revisited: We Do What We Want In Shallow Seas We Sail is probably still my favourite but I love Eve too. If we had to pick a top I would go with them.
Weirds me out to see YWNA next to IOAM in a ranking haha Also hot take incoming but ive realized across the past few records that Devin really doesn’t make or break this band for me. I also just like tobys voice more, though I used to find em indecipherable.
The two combined are what makes Emery Emery for me. They both have great voices, but together they are sublime (and that is where WDWWW lacks).
Yea it’s not nearly as good as the others but it’s just a fun pop punk/hardcore album. The curse of perfect days is top tier too!
