I wasn't a huge fan of their last two albums. This is already best in a long time.

I think the whole weird release of this really hurt it in the end. Selling it as a live experience first and giving it to club members first so early feels like it killed the hype months before wide release.

Yeah the rollout and pivot did them no favors, but they might not have had any plans to release a polished version through Tooth and Nail when the livestream was first being setup.

This is for sure their best since In Shallow Seas. This is great.

I like this a lot! Expected something more like ISS after comments in here, but it's not really in that wheelhouse imo.

Toby said it was about a break up he had before he got married.

They fixed your brain when you were young.

Echoing how surprised I am at how little promo t&n and Emery have done for this over the last couple weeks.

Especially bc they signed to tooth and nail in order to get more of a reach!

Yeah.. definitely interesting. Maybe it was something contractually where t&n is more just doing distribution and Emery still was responsible for promo. They seem kind of distracted promoting their tour.

But the album holds up. I’ve had it for a few months and it still sounds good and gets pretty regular rotation.

this is how I felt after YWNA which I felt should’ve been a modern day scene classic. I wonder how it would’ve done if another band released it, which feels weird since Emery always felt like a respected band if not a very large one. I think the last couple records took the wind out of their sails a bit but it’s a travesty the rest of the scene isn’t really paying much attention. They’ve become such great songwriters.

i didn’t follow the details/timelines very closely but this felt like the worst rollout ever, and we still don’t have the senses fail record lol. Didn’t know this record was coming out until like 3 days ago.

Devin sounds better than ever on this

Yeah I was thinking each time I perked up at a melody or vocal delivery it was Devin. I always liked Devin’s voice better though, so I’m not mad at it.

This album has some hits and misses, but this is coming from someone who dies by the sound on The Weak’s End so Eve was really more in my wheelhouse than this but it’s still a good album. I love that they are constantly evolving their sound and don’t shy away from doing something different with each release.

This album is probably their best since you were never alone/Eve. Really wish wizard and lovely
Lady were bonus tracks or something. Kind of kills the flow of the album, wizard especially. Daniel… is my favorite track so far.

I feel the exact same about those two tracks. I always skip them.

Also; I would argue this is their best record since Shallow Seas.

I actually like both of those tracks a good bit, especially lovely lady - wish it was longer

Lovely lady is at the end bc it’s meant to sort of act like a fun bonus track.

I’m not saying they are bad tracks but I think they worked much better with the live stream version of the album than as actual tracks in a studio version.

Just listened to the latest It’s All Over (formerly BadChristian) podcast, and the whole episode was about how Toby is getting divorced. It was a really sad listen.

Wizard definitely hits a lot harder now.

Just listened, a very emotional episode for sure. Toby was very transparent and open in it. Hoping the best for him and his family.
