Gave this a shot the other night and it was just not for me. I haven't listened to anything since The Question, so I'm not sure what I went in expecting.
I think 2007 Clarksville contains my favorite vocal delivery. In the chorus the melody between them is just amazing and I love how Tody has lead first go round and then they switch to Devin on the second. Didn't notice at first, but adds such a good touch.
@teebs41 It's growing on me, haha. Right now my favorites are still the singles, but those are growing on me a lot, especially Safe and Shame. This doesn't seem as catchy initially as their other records, but that's not to say there aren't catchy parts, it's just that they aren't repeated as often as most "choruses" do. ISSWS meant a lot to me in high school and I related to the lyrics a lot, so Emery will always hold a special place for me, but we'll see if one of their albums can affect me like that one. I'm going to keep trying. Also, it's a shame people forget how incredible this song is, myself included.
this week on Teebs obsesses over emery, I rediscovered the classics reimagined album. This thing is a masterpiece, the songs sound so fresh and different. I love taken for a bath as the closer as well.
I just couldn't get into it as much as I expected to. When it was confirmed I was more excited for that than Eve at one point but it didn't reach my expectations sadly.
Tonight! Very excited. I’m going for the full event, so I’m really interested to see how this plays out. Also, pretty bummed about no Sherwood, but it’ll be fun to see He is Legend. Used to listen to them a lot in high school.
Had no clue Tyson would be opening for Emery. That's sweet. Also didn't know Sherwood were still touring
Show was a lot of fun. The panel and acoustic set was great. Emery puts on a great show. From Crib to Coffin blew me away. I’m immensely grateful that Devin is back. I never saw them without him, and I can’t really imagine that. He’s integral. Also, I love how completely pointless Josh is, except he’s not pointless he’s essential to an Emery show.
