Was feeling nostalgic last night so I went a pulled up live videos of this band from 2004... holy eff. You can’t tell me there was a live band that went harder than these guys during that time period. They looked absolutely insane on stage back then.
Up next is Jesus Freak Hideout who have cropped the artwork themselves. From the review: Happy release day everyone!
I wonder what they do when they see all the art in Rome or Greece. MY EYES BURN WITH ALL THE NAKED MEN/WOMEN/CHILDREN/ANGELS.
I mean, I completely understand wanting to slightly edit the cover. I don't think that it's offensive, and I am personally not offended by it, but myself working in a church with children and teenagers will have the edited cover on my devices. If you want to discuss with me privately the "but why" of my stance on that, I'm more than open to discuss it. I'd completely expect to get lambasted in the open thread, maybe even fairly, but my point is that I'm open to discuss it. Listening to the album right now, since I could grab it on Apple Music. It's solid, and working up in my favorites this year. Haven't really jammed emery since '09, and need to grow back into them.
I mean this with all sincerity, I'm sorry if anything I posted felt as though I was having a go at you or this perspective. I obviously disagree with editing the cover on the whole, but I do respect that if you're working with people under the age of 16 then it may not be appropriate to show. I guess JFH may have children visit their website and to be fair, they acknowledge that it is artistic. The pixelated one still makes me laugh. Also, I appreciate that you have humility to discuss your opinions. Finally, I feel the same really - the last two releases didn't reach the level of what came before it to my ears but this one is something special.
I understand maybe not liking it or wanting alternative artwork in some contexts, but this is the part that is ridiculous to me. “The intention is obviously to be artistic and not pornographic, but it doesn't mean a similar message of vulnerability couldn't have been communicated in a different way.”
Will finally be checking this out at work! Maybe this will be able to fill the currently vacant number five slot! I'm surprised at how short this is though. With 15 songs I thought it would be at least 50 minutes
This is ok??? Not to say it’s bad, but I have very little to listen to it again save for maybe 3 tracks. Kinda disappointed tbh :/
Did you listen with nice headphones? @teebs41 will tell you it is full of intricacies, but the feel and articulation might be difficult to nail down
This is a good headphones album but I actually really love blasting it in the car too! Where as MWY is an album I have to listen to with headphones
I don’t expect people to love this album as much as I do by any means, but hope it does well for them
