for those who havn't heard the record, they released the song "shame" today. probably one of the best songs on there.
It’s weird that they are still releasing singles when the album is out there in several ways. - backers have got it - pre-orders have got it - they promoted the leak But I suppose it all helps! This has definitely been a unique release schedule. I wonder if it has been planned or whether they’re making it up as they go.
I know the band does surprisingly well from preorders. I think a majority of their fans don't know how to download a leak from kingdom leaks or anything like that. People want the album they are buying it to get it now. The backers already supported but thats usually only like 1000 of their most loyal fans. This band has bigger reach than i realized with over 200k fb likes. They try to keep content coming peoples way so people keep seeing it and get curious about the record. They also highly encourage their fans to give them good itunes reviews, i have no idea how that helps but their album is rated 5 stars on there.
you're blaming all my waywardness on cigarettes and booze, but i can't walk a straight line without a drink or two.
Yes, I definitely love the level of grassroots support that they have and how they’ve made all these elements work for them - even if they are unconventional. The BC podcast must work in their favour too. I really am thrilled for them that 1. they make so much from the funding and 2. they do so well from pre-orders.
I legit think the BC podcast is largely responsible for how successful they still are. It’s a big part of why I’m still a fan, and it also informs hugely where they’re coming from on their last two albums, particularly this one.
I don’t listen to break it down or BC nearly as much as I used to but I was happy to see it seem to give their career a second wind. Definitely one of the most engaging bands out there and it’s a shame they’re not bigger regardless of genre. Then again they seem to be happy doing things their way so good on them.
I almost want to try and cancel me order of this. Like, no communication from them, and I’ve tried to reach out through various avenues. No proof of my order apart from the charge to my bank account.
Hey Kevin, I work for BC/Emery and can help you get this sorted out. Shoot me your contact info and I'll make sure it's forwarded on and addressed! And sorry for the trouble.
I wouldn’t have ever guessed this, but this is an easy aoty contender for me. That’s not to say I didn’t expect to love an Emery album, this just transcended my expectations in a few undeniable ways. Absolutely love this thing.
Streets of Gold and Name Your God are easily my favorite tracks off this record. It's different and just very well done. Those two tracks alone make my backing worth it
