Been visiting 131 a lot since yesterday... still holds up. I still think these guys are killing their current sound and that their current lineup remains extremely underrated.
Did anyone expect it to not hold up less than a year later? Haha. Their live show definitely adds some things I think the records skimped on a tiiiiny bit. The guitars have an edge live that I think was a little too downplayed on 131.
You're making me want to go give it another spin, it's been a while! I have no doubts it held up though.
Yerppppp, I'll be there in Chicago. Their show here last year was legit one of the most fun shows I've been to, not gonna miss them
Honestly, I was kinda considering checking out the new Slaves album since the single was decent. But Jonny has been like, extra shitty tonight. The dude is a sociopath. He seems to take actual pleasure in fucking with peoples lives and health.
Bradley tried to take the high road with him from the start of when he entered the band, and Jonny has been nothing but a piece of shit in return. Fuck him
So much agreed with all this. I used to be the biggest fan of Jonny’s voice, but he really does make it impossible to support him. Bradley is a class act and does not deserve the hate.
Wow it's been a hot minute since I've seen Jonny's twitter and holy shit he's fuckin terrible on it. His twitter handle alone is DADDY, like fuck man.
Quite hilarious that he acts like Bradley tries to do anything even remotely close to being jealous or similar to him, when Jonny is the one that's been acting like Brad's ex boyfriend FOR YEARS now. Quite pathetic. If he didn't act like a complete fuckwad no one would pay him any mind.
I feel like if Jonny had gotten popular today instead of back when DBM came out he would probably be Lil Peep. Definitely not a compliment. He's also clearly not clean, how is Slaves even a band still?
How does a record label even back an artist like this and feel good about it? I'll always appreciate the earlier work of his, but even with that said, most of it is due to the bands he sang with. Plus, wasn't he called out for never writing his own lyrics before DBMII? Also, how can you call Emarosa your band when you were the 3rd vocalist, and their best work came after you were out? The guy is a serious clown.
Since this thread got bumped anyway... I’m bumping Versus and 131 nonstop before I see these guys on Sunday! :)
Nice! I'm seeing them the following Sunday, the 22nd. So cool to see A Lot Like Birds on the same tour.
