How's this holding up for everyone so far? The back half of the record is what I see myself coming back to the most... the string of songs from "Never" to "Re" is flawless.
Got this album at Warped today, it is fantastic. Sadly, there was a storm and my friend's wanted to leave since the whole place was being shut down for an hour or so. So, I didn't get to see Emarosa play, and their signing was cancelled due to the storm.
Anyone hear any Anberlin in this album? "Young Lonely" sounds like it was ripped straight from Dark Is The Way
funny you say that, because "Cloud 9" almost seems like a direct reference to Never Take Friendship Personal, even how he sings the line If you can't hold yourself together Why should I hold you now? If you can't hold your head up Why should I
Overall this is a much better produced record, and it's right up there but I don't think I like it more than Versus. Re: is a great album ender and I got a big kick out of the TREOS lyrics in it. Sure, Young Lonely and Cloud 9 being some of my favorites. I skip Helpless, Blue and Miracle a lot. Miracle being way too repetitive. Is it just me or did Bradley do back to back songs about the same subject multiple times on this album? Hurt/One Car Garage - being alone Sure/Miracle - their miscarrage Porcelain/Never - marriage
I thought this was just okay. Don't know if I'll care to listen again... the album is pretty one note and from what I could make out of the lyrics, they seemed pretty generic too. This sound just does very little for me. Kind of a bummer, actually, after seeing all the hype for this. Oh well, different strokes. Glad you guys are digging it.
To elaborate on the one note comment, what really bugs me about this is similar to what I didn't like on The Wonder Years' last album -- it's "dynamic" but predictably so, where each song basically follows the exact same formula of "start soft and get loud".
new Casey Bates Podcast is out about this album!! Ep. 8 - Emarosa - The Casey Bates Podcast — The Casey Bates Podcast — Overcast
Oh yeah so I listened to this album when it got leaked and didn't realize there was a thread I really enjoy this album, like way more than I thought I would and how iffy I felt about Cloud 9 when it first came out. But I found myself wanting to keep coming back to the album. Hurt is my fav song right now.
Can't wait to give this a listen... I need to give more music podcasts a listen, got any recommendations? I was thinking of starting with Shane Told's Lead Singer Syndrome which I've heard good things about.
Sadly, I'm no help here. I don't do much podcasting, this is actually the only one I listen to. I've been wanting to jump into some Song Exploder stuff however, there is a lot in there that would interest me Song Exploder | Episodes
his wife's name is Meeko by the way! He talked about her, and her singing on the track, on the podcast EDIT: or maybe her name is Amy Meeko and she goes by Meeko??? Now I am confused. Wiki confused me too
