AMPED FOR: Alessia, Florence, Maren, Kacey INTERESTED IN: Ed, Mumford, Q Tip/Demi, Sam Smith, Miley x2
The country disc is going to be sick. Also, "Mona Lisas" is such a perfect fit for Brandon Flowers' voice. Looking forward to that.
Musgraves and Henley seem like perfect matches and I can't believe I never thought of them covering those.
Yeah, that Killers one should rule. Interested to see where QOTSA takes it. Not the song choice I pictured them doing, so that'll be fun. Henley and Gill bringing the 2018 Eagles into this could be interesting.
Looking forward to about 5 of those covers. Hoping a few more are surprising enough to warrant a playlist.
I'll definitely listen to the whole thing. The country disc sounds great though. Especially because the best Elton songs are the twangy ones
Totally not into that track list. Mumfords..Ed Sheeran...Coldplay? Considering he's Elton f-ing John, I feel like he could've gotten better.
Um, no not a failure, just disappointing. I'm sure he got exactly everyone he wanted, just wish he wanted people I think are better and could do more interesting things with the songs.
Man, the Revamp comp is pretty boring. Sheeran's version works reasonably well, but the only actual highlight is Miley's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", which is fucking awesome.
P!nk + Logic is basically the b-rate version of the GOAT Miguel + Wale... and I don't even really like Wale. Like, come on... this is so fucking good
I didn't listen to all of them, but I think.... Pink & Logic - Not a fan, 4/10 Alessia - She sounds great, but somehow lost all the emotion of the song. Like, the "TIME ON MY HANDS" part that is so classic, is just kinda... there. No musical build for it either, sad. 6.5/10 Sheeran - It's solid, but I'm not sure what the difference between this one and the 2014 one is, I guess it's a little different? I'll have to listen to both side by side, but I remember liking the other one better. 8/10 Florence - She obviously sounds amazing, but I wish she added her personal touch to it. Totally by-the-books cover, the music barely strays from the original. 7/10 Mumford - why did I even listen to this, are they a band anymore? i don't actually know. Way to kill any emotion from the song, also it's way too long. 4/10 Q-Tip and Demi - Absolutely hate it, soooooooooooo bad. 2/10 Sam Smith - Issssss aiiighttttttt 6.5/10 Miley "Sun" - ok @cshadows2887 you're right, this is dope. 9/10 Maren - Solid stuff, but kinda falls to the same traps as many of the other covers... loses some emotion along the way. 7.5/10 Kacey - Awesome 9/10 Miley "Bitch" - Solid. 8/10
Only listened to the country disc so far, but there's some good stuff on there. Miley's "The Bitch Is Back" was great. I liked Kacey's, Maren's, and Stapleton's covers pretty well. Wished Miranda Lambert's was better.
