I still am disappointed by the choices she made musically since her second album. She could have been so much more instead of a generic pop artist. So much potential wasted.
Listening to her first two albums and the few excellent songs made in the last five years and a half, and brb crying lol
I think her second album sucked and the most recent is where she finally became an interesting artist. OH WELL
i felt like her most recent was comprised of bsides or csides from your mediocre wannabe pop star. she didn't shine on it at all. i still blame Burn for her decrease in quality. she did a 180 when that song became popular. that deluxe edition was okay, but I was disappointed to hear her make a step back musically. then she was able to blend so many styles until she released Love Me Like You Do as well. she just seems lost musical identity wise, and even the most unknown (at the time) pop singers who were influenced by Ellie started putting out waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better albums. it's just so sad to me, tho of course her commercial reception says the opposite. well...
Halcyon is a perfect 10. Delirium is a 9.8. She's happy and in a better mental place and the music reflects that. She's a queen and I love her.
This is a deeply disappointing take. Delirium is one of the best pure pop albums of the last half-decade.
Ha that's amazing how much different opinions can be. I think the same for her previous albums instead, this one I just can't find something good about it. So derivative to me.
It's not about innovation so much as perfection, imo. The consistency of writing and production is on another level.
I'd love a stripped down direction but I feel like it's never going to happen since "Burn", "I Need Your Love" and the success she got afterwards.
