    Ed about the bonus versions:

I wanted to record a live version of Autumn Variations, but I wanted to do it in an original way. My first idea was to do it as a living room gig at a fan’s house, but then I thought why not do each song in a different fan’s living room and surprise them on their doorstep. We did 14 houses over 2 days and it was such a fun way to meet fans but also record an entire live album. I hope you like it ! It’s the bonus album that you all deserve, and thank you to all the fans who let us in with zero notice ! x

According to his interview with Conan O’Brien today, Autumn Variations was the original record he was working on with Aaron D. And then - overtook his focus and they released that and looped back to finish Autumn. The first two songs on - (if I recall correctly) were originally meant for this newest record.

seems like his next album is called Play and will have a return to pop tracks. Shared a snippet of the lead single

I used to love Ed, Plus has been an inspiration for my songwriting, Castle on the Hill is one my favourite songs ever.
But with every new release I feel like he's the gentrifier of music.

There's live videos on IG of him doing "Azizam" in the subway in NYC for Jimmy Fallon... honestly it's a really catchy song, could see it being his biggest pop hit in a long time. Even a stripped-back mostly acoustic performance is super hooky.

Really not into this guy but I never changed the radio station when Galway Gal came on, I'm too European to resist an Irish fiddle in a pop song

I don’t disagree lol… but that being said the new song is really catchy. Just heard it with VPN - gonna go straight to #1 I think

As far as his “pop” songs imo this is one of the better ones. Instantly hooky, can see it doing very well

Interestingly, I think it's nice enough but would be surprised if it's a hit... but what do I know

After closing the chapter on his Mathematics era, Ed Sheeran is finally back and stepping boldly into a fresh new phase for 2025. By exploring the common threads of scale, rhythm, and melody that connect musical traditions throughout history, Sheeran has crafted a collection of songs that seamlessly blend these influences into a bold, pop-driven sound.

Damn, that upbeat cookie cutter stomp and holler fake folk arrangement sucks the life out of Old Phone's lyrics. Huge bummer.

Yeah. The words "bold" and "Ed Sheeran" per the post above shouldn't really be used in the same paragraph.

It's disheartening that someone like Ed, who has the money and connection to work with literally anyone, still chooses to release watered down tracks like these. I know it's pop music aimed to be played everywhere but I miss the raw and personal stories of A Team, Small Bump or Castle on the Hill.

I mean he still does. There’s like 12 other songs we haven’t heard yet.
