A friend of mine started working at Heart Machine last year so she's going to E3 this year. Gonna see if she can maybe get me in.
How exactly do people get to go to the conferences? Do people camp and wait in line like way ahead of time?
Yep, the only thing open to the public (and only as of this year) is the show floor on Tuesday - Thursday. The press conferences are still invite only.
Originally the whole thing was just for press to show off what they had coming. General people being able to be a part of E3 at all has just increased over the years since it started getting shown on TV and being livestreamed. At least now they do all livestream it and do live demos after for people at home.
One thing Nintendo actually does really well these days is E3, for that exact reason. In addition to their direct presentation (which is coming back this year), they do days of livestreams for tons of games. They really bring as much to the public as they possible can.

So pumped for E3. I may not be able to take a leave that day after all because of work but that's okay. I'll probably just try and avoid news.
Didn't it get abandoned and turn into Fable: The Journey? Regardless, Microsoft needs a new IP fast, Halo 6 isn't going to be at E3 this year so there has to be something that will create a lot of hype because Crackdown 3 is not it.
It was scrapped and according the the wiki page a few features from Milo were implemented in that Fable game which I had no idea about. That's pretty cool
Microsoft possibly having The Coalition revive whatever they were working on as Black Tusk is an interesting idea that I had never considered before reading those GameInformer predictions. In fact, I had forgotten they were working on something before Gears. They probably would never do that but it's still a cool thought.
I see it getting bounced around but I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft picks up Hitman or continues their relationship with Crystal Dynamics and announces their Avengers game as an exclusive.
Is it? To be honest I'm expecting the game to come out late 2018. They'd apparently been sitting on the trailer for a year and a half before they premiered it a couple months ago. The plot takes place 5 years after the first one so it'd be really fitting for it to come out 5 years after the original in 2013. Or are we just perpetuating Kaz Hirai memes? If so carry on.
Mostly a joke because it was the sole non-Knack 2 item, but personally I don't think TLoU2 will have a big presence (probably just another trailer) because of how many other games they need to show off that are probably coming before that one - Days Gone, Spidey, God of War, Detroit, Naughty Dog's own Uncharted spinoff and yes even Knack 2. My guess is a bigger showing for TLoU at their December PSX thing. I'd looooove to see a big demo of TLoU2 though.
They expanded it beyond just DLC to be its own standalone thing, even getting a separate physical release.
