For tomorrow I hope they like do 5 minutes on 3DS and just go all out on Switch. Show Odyssey and review some first party titles releasing this year like Xenoblade, Splatoon and Zelda DLC. And then focus on 3rd parties. Wonder if we'll see No More Heroes.
At this point, Battlefront 2, Wolfenstein 2, Far Cry 5, and South Park are the only for sure games I'll be getting.
For sure: God of War Cuphead Metro Mario/Rabbids Detroit Uncharted A Way Out Far Cry 5 The Evil Within 2 Ni No Kuni 2 Wolfenstein 2 Dragonball Z Assassins Creed Origins (unless the reviews are horrible.) Maybe: Anthem Sea of Theives Spider-Man Days Gone Battlefront 2 South Park Ashen Ori SOTC
Oh shit yeah hopefully Retro will have something cool tomorrow PS if they announce on the side that Donkey Kong Country Returns 1 and 2 will be combined and ported over to switch I'll buy it immediately.
Plus it's been on wii u and 3ds (at least the first one) so the proof of concept is pretty much there. No reason to port over just one of them. I think it's a reasonable prediction. If I can try and justify its existence enough maybe it will come true.
Everyone needs to really temper expectations for Nintendo, I think. They said that this presentation is only going to be like 35 minutes long and it's going to focus mainly on Mario. Don't expect any surprises and you won't be disappointed when there aren't any. Conversely, it will be that much sweeter if there are.
Part of me thinks that we're reaping what we sowed with regard to announcements of games at E3. A vocal segment of the gaming community spent years bashing companies for CGI announcement trailers with zero gameplay, decrying so-called "hype culture" and how E3 plays into it, and demanding that companies wait until they have real footage to show off before talking about anything. Well, that's exactly what we got and now everyone on the internet is mad/disappointed because 70% of what was shown off across all the conferences was previously announced. But almost every single game shown the last three days had actual gameplay, either live or scripted. Not hard to look at this as a reaction to all the harsh criticism leveled at E3 over the years, deserved or otherwise. Not saying it isn't good that the conferences were heavily gameplay-focused, because it is. It's just, this is exactly what many people were asking for over the years.
Companies apparently have to secretly work on massive products for years so they can be like "This brand new game is coming out next month and is playable on the show floor" for people to be happy.
Y'all, that God of War trailer was epic. I cannot wait to play this game! The Uncharted spinoff looked really good.
That Sony conference showed me nothing I wanted to play and those VR trailers didn't go down well with the audience, practically silence at the end of each one.
On Ubisoft: Starting with Miyamoto is a power move. It was a really nice and heartfelt moment I think. The game looks pretty damn cool too. I'm definitely going to play it. Assassin's Creed looks really good to me. I'm ready. Kind of a weird way to show gameplay though, haha. It's weird to me that the media acts like AC has something to prove as if Syndicate wasn't amazing. The Crew was a cool idea with mediocre gameplay. I have hope this one'll be better, but putting all that other stuff in could also be a bad sign. I could definitely go for some off road dirt bike action so I hope it'll be cool. What's with the uncharismatic protagonists in this series though? Also, watching this stuff kind of makes me want to play GTAV again, haha. South Park is going to be amazing. The first one was so good. I love (as in hate) how people that haven't watched South Park in forever have so many opinions on South Park by the way. The Transference trailer was cool. No idea what it is though, haha. FUCKING PIRATES AGAIN? How did this happen? How did we end up in a pirate boom? The trailer was pretty though and the gameplay looked very pretty too. If it is what a think it is - a mid between Black Flag ship combat and For Honor (great game), they're probably golden, but I really did not like the ship combat in Black Flag. Also, a message for all publishers: please no more "haunting covers" of bad pop songs, that stuff is so corny and bad and out of touch. That South Park mobile game actually looks awesome. Great surprise. Starlink could be good but I'm always skeptical when it comes to Toys 2 Life. It has a cool look though. I also like that Ubisoft is coming through for Nintendo. Steep is cool as fuck and is doing well for Ubisoft. I'm glad they are turning this game into such a platform and this expansion is a cool addition to the game. The fact the the video game media is belittling this game so often just makes them seem out of touch. Far Cry looks so damn good o_O I hope this is enhanced on Xbox One X and I hope the shooting has gotten better. Not sure I liked that guys intro however. Also this game might be goofier than people expect. Beyond Good And Evil 2 looks amazing (the art and so on, I know there was no gameplay). Wow. What they are saying sounds amazing too. Shoutout to Ubisoft for funding something like this. A really heartfelt moment here too. I can't believe I'm saying this about an Ubisoft e3 press conference, but not only was this a good conference, it was also by far the most genuine and heartfelt one so far. Also, no corny influencers or fake eSports! I really hope Ubisoft will manage to fight off Vivendi because the video game industry needs this Ubisoft. Tagging @lightning13 because it's Ubisoft.
