Dragonball, Wolfenstein, Mario + Rabbids, BG&E2 are all things I'm pretty excited about. Sony's show was...fine. Very few surprises (the only two in MH and SotC had been sorta leaked beforehand) but it was good to see what some of those games they announced last year looked like and they definitely have a few things I want to play. It's been a mostly underwhelming E3 all around. Mario Odyssey is my last hope.
I was so excited for Spider-Man and after that demo I kind of feel like Insomniac is being wasted on it. I'd rather them be making a new original title.
It looks like a worse version of the Arkham games with more quick time events. Whoever's voicing Peter seriously lacks charisma and I'm disappointed about it being tech Spider-Man.
I'm mostly relying on the fact that insomniac's making it so I'm still excited but I am worried about the amount of quickime events the game will have.
I mean it's hard to see how you approach those situations without using QTE. I'd rather QTE than cutscenes.
I haven't written it off or anything but I'm definitely a lot less enthusiastic and excited than I was before the show. It looks bland to me.
I think part of the issue is that a lot of the things they were using QTE to do didn't excite me anyway so it looks even less fun and they didn't seem like they were integrated very well. I like when they come quickly as you move straight out of gameplay so it's a more seamless experience rather than having them just randomly appear in the middle of a cutscene. Idk, I do think making a Spider-Man game is difficult but I was hoping this would be the one to get it right and it just isn't quite doing it for me like I'd hoped.
That's fair. I just found a lot more to like, with the stealth, and the fast paced travel through the city. The wall running and web slinging on the walls were ace. I liked Fisk's and the Yakuza's involvement. The pros definitely outweighed the cons for me.
I kinda figure since they so much time on the Mario game at ubi conference that they won't show it tomorrow.
Hopefully it's just an initial feeling of disappointment based on it not matching up with what I wanted and I'll enjoy the full game a lot more. I did love the swinging through the city, thought that looked great. I was hoping the game wouldn't be mostly fighting lots of thugs which is kind of what I'm expecting after this which I guess I understand. I'm excited for Miles Morales to be in the game and hopefully I'll like his costume more and he won't be so tech focused.
The one thing that made me let out an audible "yes!" and accompanying subtle fist pump so far was Ori 2(Will of the Wisp). Once I saw Gareth Coker playing the piano on stage I knew. Life is Strange prequel also has me stoked.
