Probably just showcasing what will be out before next years E3. Give BF2 the spotlight this year, talk the Visceral (and maybe even the Respawn) game when they've got something substantial to show closer to release. ...I hope. I can't take another 1313.
But that's my point - Visceral's should have something substantial to show by now. I'm not expecting much from Respawn considering they just shipped Titanfall 2 last fall, but Visceral's has been their sole focus for over two years. It's not a good sign.
They showed a few seconds last year, ha. I can see them holding it back just to give Battlefront all the Star Wars attention. If it's not there next year I'll worry.
Ah, I see your point. I'm gonna remain hopeful that it is the case of keeping the spotlight on BF2 this year. They go all-in on Visceral next year, and they'll be showcasing highly anticipated SW games for three years straight.
I don't know, I just really don't like them monopolizing the Star Wars license and then drip-feeding us news one game at a time over several years. I'm not expecting them all to come out at the same time, but they should be talking about a game that's been in development for two years by now. There's no reason not to talk about the Visceral game either, it's not like it's going to steal Battlefront 2's thunder when it's probably not coming out until late 2018 at the earliest. The games can co-exist on the E3 conference stage. Plus, Visceral's doesn't even have to be playable. Just give us a trailer and have Battlefront 2 on the show floor. It's just odd, the way they're handling these games.
I can certainly agree with that take on their marketing and the drip-feed mindset they seem to have with SW. Like SpyKi though, I'm not worried about the development of the games.
I don't know if it's in trouble with EA or having a rocky development or whatever, but there's no other good explanation for not showing off a game two years into development. If they're just holding it back on purpose just to have something to talk about next year, that's pretty bad in my opinion. I'm just frustrated by it as a fan of Star Wars and Star Wars games, as I'm sure you all are too.
I've never played a Far Cry before but if they really blow us away with this one I'd probably get it.
Other thoughts on EA: A Way Out looks like a great time, can't wait to jam some couch co-op. Probably my favourite thing they showed, so I hope it delivers. Anthem, though they showed next to nothing, I could help but think that the aesthetics are so reminiscent on Titanfall, Evolve, Destiny and Crysis. I know it's a little early to make that claim for the entire project, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it will differentiate itself from the others tomorrow, I just am not excited about it all yet. Hoping this sci-fi was worth handing off their other sci-fi... Edit: I keep waiting for a NFS game to re-inspire my faith in the series, because it has has some great games recently with the HP and MW reboots (Criterion represent, BO: Paradise is incredible fight me) but I might just go after Horizon 3 after that cinematic-heavy showcase they gave us.
So seemed like I didn't miss anything. Just some Battlefront 2 footage, and a new IP from the Brothers team. Where can I see this Anthem teaser?
I'm super excited for BF2, they listened and made a better game. Love the phase battles, the BP system is very welcome, and best of all, all post-launch content is free which is awesome. Really glad EA is learning from the past and making this more accessible to everyone by removing that paywall.
No one is asking the question of what is paying for the free BFII dlc... seems like star cards are going to be ability modifiers that can be earned through crates purchased with in game currency or real money. Pretty worrying actually.
It's still better than putting that content in the game via updates and then make people pay to unlock it.
Xbone S is now $199, solid move on Microsoft's part. Now only if they had those games they've heard people talk about...
