direct from a representative from Lionsgate Limited that both a limited collector's and wide retail release of Kill Bill TWBA will be happening this year. won't be a steelbook, but will be a fancy boxset. art and bonus materials are currently being finalized with the QT camp. the question is whether they're going to try to fit the full 4.5 hour film on a single 100 GB disc or split it across two, which he says they're still deciding on. i think the former option is impossible without heavy compression (and probably won't play well for those who have already criticized the look of Lionsgate's most recent 4K releases of the films separately). we'll see what happens.
i always figured that was the way they were gonna do it, and maybe just scrap the intermission entirely, saving a continuous cut for a digital copy. even though the differences are minuscule, i would like a version that has the extended anime sequence, the Crazy 88 fight in color, and the cliffhanger cut out. i know it's possible to get 3.5 hour movies on a single UHD (see The Brutalist, ultimate cut of Watchmen), so if the compression was good enough and they cut the intermission, they could get the 50 additional minutes needed for TWBA to fit on a single disc. but i think the chances are incredibly slim. regardless, i'm pumped to pick it up at some point, even if i have to change over discs halfway through
Anyone ever bought a disc from Showtown? With no official Blu release of What About Bob? available, I'm thinking of picking up their bootleg copy. Reviews seem good but I haven't bought from there before.
Is it possible to find original Scrubs DVDs with the OG soundtrack? or are they all $1000 or whatever? lol
I would imagine these would be available at a lot of thrift stores or pawn shops for like $5 a season. Unless it was really specific printings with the original music.
subscribing to Dropout was one of the better decisions i made last year. pretty cool to see them start leaning into making physical media.
Neat! I’ve been watching Game Changer and Make Some Noise lately. Haven’t dove in to stuff like Dimension 20 yet
yeah, D20 is a feat i'm gonna wait to tackle. i've seen everything from Game Changer and Smartypants, and have slowly been working my way through Gastronauts, in addition to going through Very Important People with my partner. i think once i'm caught up on those two, i'll dive into MSN. i believe this set (it's S1 & S2 only right now) will be restocked in the near future. it was an experiment to see if there was a viable audience for physical media, since they sold out, they'll do the other 5 seasons in addition to other shows. haven't popped the discs in my player yer, but despite the release being bare bones, it looks like it was professionally-manufactured, being pressed instead of burned.
i noticed after i took the picture and i knew someone was gonna call it out and i still didn't give a shit drats!
slightly-related note, apparently ABC Studios hasn't put out any physical media in the US since 2019, which kinda sucks.
