Ahh I wasn’t really sure and honestly I didn’t feel like reading up on it. Lol. I assumed it was worse than it is with how everything is going lately. So my bad everyone!
no worries, lol. for the record, it does suck that recordable optical media is slowly going by the wayside for those who use it frequently, but i don't think it's as big of a problem, especially since SDS and Disney both contracted out their physical media production to Sony this year, both of which are supposedly multi-year deals. that could eventually change, and i'm gonna be very upset when it does, but this shouldn't really impact collecting unless you somehow want to burn something yourself or are invested in burned bootlegs
Anyone found a good destination for donating DVD cases? I've spent an absurd amount of time this week scanning the artwork and inserts from my collection, and now I'm getting ready to part with the majority of them (at least for movies I'm confident I'll want to keep). Can't quite bring myself to take the same step with my Blu-ray cases yet, but as there are dozens of those, it may be coming one day... Already checked with the local library system, thinking they may want replacement cases for loaned movies, but no dice there. And as someone who thrifts most of my movies, it would seem cruel to put a load of empty cases on their shelves.
Target is doing their buy two get one free deal again. I think you have to be a Target Circle member now tho, which you can sign up for easily enough. There's also a Target Circle Bonus offer where if you spend over $70 in one transaction you get $10 back
Thanks for the reminder! Picked up the 2 Dune movies, Top Gun Maverick, and a 3 movie collection of Mean Girls, Clueless, and She's the Man
was at Target yesterday and found the in-store selection to be pitiful. might look online, but we did use the same deal to pick up some board games.
Gruv was having a sale (feels like they always are) 3/$30 on some stuff, picked up First Man, The Thing and The Northman on 4K
Not a title I am working on, but I can tell you that my colleagues who are working on it are putting their whole heart into it and making sure everything is as great as possible. Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegal were in the office a few weeks back just hanging out, checking out dvd, chatting with people, they both seem like great people
Special shoutouts to any label putting out stuff that was previously streaming only. Someday I'll get to own The Killer and Killers of the Flower Moon on Blu... At least I hope so, Apple in particular seems even worse than Netflix when it comes to licensing these things out
