Best Buy has some pretty cool picks, might finally snag Cocaine Bear, Violent Night, and The Menu I noticed Walmart's deals are from another seller through Walmart's website, if you click the in-store filter the prices aren't discounted
I succumbed to Black Friday deals and got myself a Panasonic UB42OP 4K. I’m joining the party way late but hopefully it is before physical media became way too scarce.
Nice! At some point I need to pick up a dedicated player. Our Xbox can handle 4K discs but I've heard it's just not the same.
If you don't care about Dolby Vision the current gen consoles aren't too bad, outside of excessive disc noise
That's good to know - ours is an Xbox One S. Actually read a review tonight that mentioned the image quality isn't half bad compared to regular players, so maybe we'll stick with it for now.
I’ll be running the new Panasonic on a LG C1 77” tv. Also have a Sonos soundbar. Filling out the surround sound is the next step. I’m excited to try it out.
I said I would try to slow down buying 4Ks but Vinegar Syndrome just announced a 4K cool of eXistenZ so I picked that up... Along with The Prophecy Box-set and Redneck Zombies Lord help me.
Dune 4k/bluray for $10 but I feel like if I get that I'll have to get the others on 4k also, not to mention I don't even have a 4k player
Yeah was browsing them last week and didn't feel like I needed anything but then when I saw Existenz I had to make a cart lol
Both of my blu ray players are messing up for some odd reason. I think it’s the TV because I’ve tried numerous cables. I decided to buy a Pioneer blu ray drive and will just watch my movies on my Mac. Not sure if it will present on my Studio Display, however. Will have to test it and see
Got my blu-ray of Weird: The Al Yankovic Story the other day. Lots of bonus features I’m excited to spend time with!
Haven't bought too many movies lately but grabbed that shiny new 4k of The Raid... almost grabbed the True Lies and Aliens 4Ks too but the amount of discussion about DNR has given me pause, I still might grab True Lies since it's the only way to really see that movie on home video, but I have that Alien boxset from years ago so I might pass on Aliens... why does James Cameron have to fuck with his movies so much :( Think I'll finally be picking up the JFK, GDT's Pinocchio, and Oppenheimer 4ks on the next paycheck.
where's the best place to find news about 4k releases? just blu-ray.com? or is there something better
That's pretty much my #1 resource but then I follow a bunch of the boutique labels and physical media outlets on Twitter to get the quick and dirty announcements without having to check Blu-ray.com
okay yeah that's what i figured. any boutique brands to know besides the obvious (following criterion, arrow, VS, radiance and eureka)
generally i probably am going to focus on buying movies i've seen/want to see and not do as many blind purchases but yeah, i have heard of that one
