This thread has been too quiet. I need to post some recent buys soon. Also for any collectors, where is the best place to offload some of the collection that is just taking up dust now?
I don’t really buy any more physical media because I don’t have room for it, but I did treat myself for spooky season.
@irthesteve What’s been up with Scream Factory lately? Like I appreciate the UHD re-releases but they’ve been really lacking new releases lately, is there trouble over there?
Unfortunately I don't have any info there, I strictly work with new theatrical releases now instead of physical product
I spent most of this afternoon sorting my DVD collection. I've split it into the following sections: Horror, Live-action TV, Animation (TV, film, Disney/Pixar), Series/Box sets, Marvel/DC, films with Asian cast, Alphabetical by Director, and finally, Alphabetical by title. Literally scoured the tiny text on the back of every DVD case for the "Directed by" credit, which is why it took so long; didn't know a lot of them were by the same directors, a few took me by surprise.
I've been reorganizing, rearranging and reevaluating my collection a lot lately! Rewatching a bunch. Purging some to make room for new stuff. Always fun times.
Amassed quite a blu-ray collection the past few years. Here's what I watched in April And my new arrivals this month.
I may or may not have gone a liiiittle overboard on Target's buy two get one free sale. I mean, this isn't even half of it...
I have a pile of 50 odd movies that I don't have shelf-space for, going to try and hold off on buying much else until I have a new set of shelves Though the remaining 4 Child's Play 4Ks from Shout! Factory, To Live and Die in LA and Truman Show 4Ks are calling to me hard.
Oh wild lol, I only really got started collecting more physical media in about 2020, and really only started diving into the boutique labels the last 2 years but I'd say I own a fair amount of Shout's 4K library at this point lol. Those Laika 4k's are especially incredible (My god that Coraline disc especially) so give a shout to all involved with that if you can!
I was wondering what to do with all the blu-rays I upgraded to 4K versions of... considered craigslist or trading them to the local video store but the former would be a lot of work and the latter would probably fleece me, then I came up with the idea of getting a list together and giving them away to any co-workers who'd want them, though I don't know how many people would actually take me up on it lol
