Doesn't look like it's gonna be IMAX 70mm anywhere in Boston, I'm afraid :-/

Either way, I'd say see it in IMAX if you get the chance. It's a movie you'll likely want to see twice, so you can probably go IMAX then 70mm.

I mean what the hell is so hard about telling someone they are in your seats? If that's the only reason to dislike reserved seating... then I don't know what to tell ya

There are other reasons, mostly that it takes away choice and incentivizes people buying tickets in advance and ruining the spontaneity of showing up to a theater. Luckily nothing near me does it.

You can't sit in the reserved seats. That seems obvious.

It's no different then if someone was sitting in those seats when you showed up to the theater. Buy your tickets before going to the theater, plenty of choice. It's really no different

There is an enormous difference between people physically being somewhere already and having to sit in an awkward spot while perfectly good seats are empty. They are the opposite problem.

This is literally the dumbest argument I've ever had.

You could also just not go during busy opening weekends and show up to the theater on time.

Why do opposing preferences get labeled as dumb? I understand your preference, so why is a different view, one that a lot of people share, so bad?

  16. I can't believe this is an actual argument occurring right now. (Ok, I can, cause someone that has spent years trashing on Nolan movies is the one continuing it in a Nolan movie thread, but still, this is hilarious. Just wow.)

    Theatre manger chiming in here.

Reserved seating was implemented into my theatre about two years ago and it has been quite the process. As of now, we only have one row of reserved seating in each screen. This is due to the fact that we also have a restaurant and people can order food and drinks to be delivered to their assigned seat and it would be impossible to be able to deliver to every seat due to the layout of the screens. It has caused so many issues and it is the worst having to go into a movie after it has started and kick people out because they are sitting in someone's seat. However, I totally understand why people like it and, in my opinion, having reserved seats and offering food/drinks, is one of the things keeping movie theatres alive. It's making it more of an experience for the guest. My theatre in particular is a little weird cause we only have the one row, I prefer all or nothing but it certainly isn't anything to get too upset about either way imo

The reviews for the Alamo Drafthouse in Kansas City shows that the whole dinner theater experience is still pretty flawed.

I wish my theatre was as good as the Alamo Drafthouse. All of my experiences at the one in SF have been amazing. They seem to have it down to a science.

I am bothered by the attempt to paint it as an extreme position. I Googled reserved seat movie theater to see what chains do it and there are multiple results on the first page of writers/forums complaining about it. It is almost as if there is reasonable disagreement as to the best approach.

I don't care if someone eats in a movie, that's up to them. I personally don't do it because I'm cheap and typically have a meal before/after the movie.

The score for this is honestly crazy. Just basing how the last few movies of trended as far as reviews, this is super exciting. Can't wait to see this Thursday night!
