I saw Superbad ten years ago at a theater I didn't normally go to and was surprised that I had to pick an open seat when I bought my ticket

In a big theater, i usually go front row of the back section, or in a smaller one, as far towards the top as I can be, and always in the middle.

This is playing in 70mm OR IMAX here, but not both. I'm curious what will be the better way to experience it for the first time.

Very glad my local theater has 70mm IMAX. Looking forward to it Thursday evening, probably.

Reserved seating sounds awful. People were doing fine for decades without it.

legit didn't go see wonder woman because even though there were tickets left when I wanted to see it, it was all crappy seats.

as to why I came to the thread, glancing over the reviews and seeing stuff like "Culmination of Nolan's entire career" and "Best war movie in decades" has kicked my hype into overdrive.

It seems easy enough to get "good" seats. Show up early, or don't go on Friday and Saturday nights.

Theater I like to go to has one screen, even the stuff midday Saturday and Sunday was all very full. Gotta actually get your tickets days in advance instead of morning of, and I never remember to do that.

  10. Reserved seating has made my movie-going experience so much better. I can buy tickets early, pick good seats, and not have to worry about showing up to the theater early. I love the convenience.

  11. Of course someone is arguing against the best thing to happen to movie theaters in years. Of course.

I'm kind of surprised all theaters haven't switched over to reserved seating, it takes all of the stress out of attending large films like this on opening weekend. Why wouldn't you want to save the time and hassle?

    Someday I’ll find me Prestigious

As someone who absolutely adores anything Nolan touches (he didn't really touch Man of Steel), I am beyond excited for Thursday.

I haven't been this excited for a Nolan film since TDKR (which I really love, despite its issues). Also love Interstellar. He's so good at what he does.

Does anybody remember the days of the Star Wars prequels or when LOTR movies came out? You had to go to the theater hours early to get a good seat and you had to sit and wait in line. Reserved seating is 100 percent a good thing

    Goddamn, man child Prestigious

I don't think they have assigned seats where I live and I've never been to a showing where it's an issue so long story short just move to the middle of nowhere and you'll be miserable but you'll always get a seat at the theater

I would go for Harry regardless lol so it apparently being good makes this better for me.

    run away with me Platinum

I think I'm gonna do standard 70mm like I did with Interstellar, they only have the fake Imax screens here where they charge you $20 for a slightly larger screen

The theater I work at hadn't made the switch to reserved seating at the time TFA came out and we had people lined up for hours for 10+ screenings at a time. After the switch it drastically cut down on that and people have seemed a lot happier during event films.

I wish I had an option for 70mm where I live...

I'm not even a LOTR fan but a friend of mine wanted to see The Two Towers and I went and bought tickets the day before the showing we planned on going.

My local theater is typically packed but for new releases I just go at like noon and always get to sit wherever I want, and I always show up right before it starts
